RIP Mark Linkous ... of Sparklehorse
Sir Stewart replied to Wild Frank's topic in Someone Else's Song
I heard this album the other day, it's pretty good. With Danger Mouse and all the special guests, I don't quite understand how it's Sparklehorse's album though. -
During Saturday's Red Sox-Rays broadcast, FOX had Carlton Fisk in the booth. Since Dick Stockton was also in the booth, the discussion led to game 6 of the '75 World Series (Stockton famously called Fisk's game winner that night "if it stays fair...homerun!"). Then Fisk said something I'd never heard before: that Stockton met his future wife that day. Now that in itself doesn't mean a thing to me, but it reminded me of the scene in Good Will Hunting when Robin Williams says he missed his opportunity to see game 6 (slid his ticket to his friends and said he had to see about a girl) because he m

Stop distracting me man I'm trying to figure out how to hit a homerun.

Holy awesome.

Sucks that J-Off was part of the 1999 Red Sox, one of my favorite Sox teams.

Wow, our own AWATT wrote it!

Crow - did you drive to six different Best Buys? I'm thinking if you only called, maybe they were like "Let me check for you... ( ) ...nope, not here, sorry."
-
Why stop there?

I did this and feel much the same way, Lou. Thanks for the suggestion. It's All Good is just fantastic.

A&E really did stand for Arts & Entertainment at one time, I do remember. The ad for the parking tickets show - I saw that once at my in-laws and sort of embarrassed myself with a display of incredulousness. WTF.
-
A&E is the worst station going. When I watch The Sopranos, the ads for every single A&E show look like one big shark sandwich. Who the f@&k wants to watch a show like The Exterminators?

Speaking of gone - a friend of mine who I've mentioned here before is gone, and he had about (I'd guess) 2,000 CDs and 4,000 LPs. He wasn't closer to anyone than he was to me, but I deferred to his father without a struggle when it came to inheriting the collection. I did take what I wanted, which wasn't much, but I wish I knew what's happened to all that stuff. Oh well.

I still care about small record stores, but you make a good point about the folks behind the counters - for the most part, they're dickweeds. I heard a guy not long ago ask a customer if he was ready to buy and he replied "Yeah I'm all set" to which the worker said "All set? What the hell does 'all set' even mean? It means nothing." The guy just shrugged it off. I like to think I'd have just left, depending of course on what I was about to buy.

Trailer for "The New World Order Conspiracy"

This comic is the only thing I check out regularly on The Onion these days. -
I shall check that out, thanks. I didn't peruse that page.

But, it's only 4 years old. And yes, of course I'm taking a stimulant! I guess an upturned glass over the middle is my solution...
-
Which reminds me - I've noticed my record player ( this one ) is suddenly playing records a bit faster than it used to. All of them. Nothing in the manual mentions this...any idears, short of a glass over the middle of the record or pennies on the arm?
-
By any chance is it under 30 seconds long?
-
I'm only buying from Best Buy from now on anyway.
-
My standard limit on used vinyl is $6.99 and pretty much everything I buy is devoid of skips.
-
I bet The Cars Hiss By My Window sounds damn good.
-
Or, maybe it will be.
-
I could do without Lewis Black. He was funny when he first came to prominence, now I can't stand his twitching and yelling for more than 30 seconds at time.

Some fan!
