July 31, 2007 Gagne: Done deal By David Lefort, Boston.com Staff According to NESN, the Red Sox have officially acquired Eric Gagne from the Texas Rangers in exchange for pitcher Kason Gabbard, outfielder David Murphy, and minor league outfielder Engel Beltre today. Unidentified major league sources told NESN that Gagne has agreed to waive his no-trade clause to Boston and has also agreed to serve as the team's set-up man.

So...what would the Red Sox do with Pap if Gagne insists on being closer? I guess he'd be in the rotation? Set-up? This isn't making sense to me. Anyone?
