I'm waiting on the iEye. Contact lenses that filter out all the bad and fill in the view with good stuff.

Dammit, really? The only Auster I didn't enjoy reading was Brooklyn Follies. I tend to like his drier, more aloof stuff, like Book of Illusions. It seems from reviews that this one is kinda like that. What do you think?

Ted Kennedy to be succeeded by a toolbag

Fixed it for you. -
I was going to write "don't you mean go Sir Stewart?" before I even got to the parenthetical.

Orleans? Is that a band?

They played Fenway once. Perspective!

C'mon, that was good stuff up there.

But if you were expecting something different, and he gave you something unexpected, then didn't he give you something different, and so you got what you expected?

Oh I don't know, for plucking him from obscurity and giving him what was at the time one of the most high profile jobs on television, sticking with him through the lean times when nobody watched and everyone expected failure, and continuing to support and employ him for a couple of decades?

Zooropa was a hoot because by the time Achtung came out, it felt like we'd either be waiting forever for a new U2 album or that there wouldn't be any more U2 albums. Then in the middle of the Achtung whirlwind, they spit out another one while on the road, and it's weird, man. Weird! Loved it. Still do.

I've just been doing a lot of NY Times crosswords lately while waiting for either Eating Animals or the new Paul Auster to show up for me at the library.

Yeah, that don't give in to cynicism bit was fantastic. It really came across that it was very important to him.

In bed with the flu yesterday, watched The Two Towers extended edition. This is the best of the three.

One thing I've learned is that U2 are really bad at describing their own music. The Edge calling something 'folk' means nothing to me.

No, he was a dingus. -
Well, there's no accounting for taste. I like you, for example.

Laurel And Hardy Jailed On Drug Charges
Sir Stewart replied to u2roolz's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
A local station used to air a half hour of Laurel & Hardy every weekday around 3:30 when I was a preteen. My dad was/is nuts for them, so I was too. That handcrank-sounding theme music brings me right back there. -
Laurel And Hardy Jailed On Drug Charges

The thread title reminded me Paul Auster's short play Laurel and Hardy Go To Heaven. -
See you in the RTT.

BTW it's correct to refer to the Beatles album as Sgt. Pepper's.

Gary Matthews Jr to the Mets (and caliber will be glad to see the headline uses his last name correctly)
