  1. There was something about this on Later... With Jools Holland last Fri. They had George Harrison and Roy Orbison's wives on about the new box set... they showed some of the film footage which looked quite interesting...

Yep. That was the same show that Wilco was on. In fact, they played WAMF right after that interview ended. There is a DVD torrent of the full show on dime, if anyone is interested in seeing it.

I'll say it again: I can't wait for this set to come out!

  2. Why did the other thread have to be locked? I didn't read most of it and don't care how long it goes on, but the excuse that "The subject seems to have been pretty well talked out at this point" is lacking. The mods get to decide when people can stop discussing something?

I'm not a mod here, so this is just my opinion, but i think that Kidsmoke did the right thing here by locking that thread. I'm actually surprised at the restraint that was shown in this situation. Many of the posts on that locked thread today were not about the original discussion, an indication that it had been "talked out." My experiences with other not so well moderated boards as this one have been that when a topic starts to run out of gas, it can lead to a lot of back-and-forth volleying, which then lead to the thread getting really out of hand. People start making personal insults, and really, who wants that? I certainly don't. In fact, that very trend which i am referring to came dangerously close to happening in that other thread. I'm glad we have such a well moderated board here. Some band boards which i won't mention here are just horrible when it comes to respectful discourse between it's members, b/c the mods there either don't crack down hard enough, or not at all. People are very respectful here, and I think there is a good reason for that.

Thanks to all the mods. You do a great job here! :worship

  3. I am sure the World Series victory didn't hurt.

    GO SOX!

Oh, of course that Championship Season helped . I used to be a fan of both teams, due to my love of Chicago and baseball. More importantly, I didn't grow up in an environment where i had to pick one team over the other, so i never thought about choosing sides. That is, until the 2003 debacle ruined my relationship with the Cubs forever. The 2005 magic carpet ride of a season guaranteed that I'll be a Sox fan for life! If the Cubs were ever in a World Series, i would root for them. If the Cubs were in a World Series against the Sox, i would wish for nothing less than a South Side Sweep! I can't wait for the crosstown series to shift to the Cell! This time I hope the Sox will bring a bullpen with them.

  4. I would start watching baseball if Wilco was played. I'd even be a Cubs fan...

Uhh....are you sure about that? I wholeheartedly support watching a baseball game. any game, for that matter, with Wilco involved. However, I don't know about being a Cubs fan. It'd be bad for your general health. If the Cubs ever used a Wilco song as their theme song it would be "I Am Trying To Break Your Heart." They've been doing that, and succeeding, for decades now. I officially stopped being a Cubs fan after the inexcusable playoff chokefest in 2003, and i have to admit, my heart has NEVER been healthier. One of the best decisions i have ever made. Go Sox! :yes

  5. Starbucks To Open A Starbucks Inside The Bathroom Of A Pre-excisting Starbucks!

This makes me think of that Simpsons episode where Bart goes into a mall to get his ear pierced, and the clerk says "Ok. but ya better hurry kid. They're turning this place into a starbucks." Then he walks out of that store sipping a Starbucks coffee and its now a starbucks and every store in the mall is boarded up with a sign that says "coming soon: a Starbucks." :lol

  6. This isn't a joke. The uploader claims to have pulled this out of the "bonus section" of the Sky Blue Sky disc . Someone who is savvy needs to search the rest of the bonus content to see if there is anything else like maybe a non 128 version of "Let's Not Get Carried Away".

So much for this being on the next album. This really sounds great.

    :dancing

It still could be on the next album. Remember that they released Handshake Drugs on the "More Like The Moon EP and made it a free download, and yet it still would up as a different version on AGIB.

Downloading it now off the cd. Thanks for letting us know!

  7. It's just a mite odd that the shows were streamed and still haven't popped up. I was away from the board leading up to them, so I totally forgot to listen. Blah. I'd walk over my own crypt to hear Tweedy and Bill Fay's "Be Not So Fearful." What a cool guest appearance that must have been for those in attendance!

Here ya go! I had recorded this show, and this one of the few songs that came out well. I had posted this in earlier in the official thread, so for those of you who may have missed it, enjoy!

Wilco W/Bill Fay-Be Not So Fearful

  8. indeed. It has gotten much better here though...hope the same happens for you

It has gotten better, at first i thought the noises were amplifier feedback, but then i realized it was probably the webcast.

  9. I think maybe you need to have purchased the new CD in order to hear it

No, that was yesterday. Today's webcast is open to everyone.

Be patient Jeffa. I'm checking the Wilco site, and when a link to the webcast becomes available, i'll post it in "the official thread."
