  1. FYI, This is a fresh edit of this show. It turns out i not only forgot to include the track summer noon in my previous torrent, i also overlooked it when i originally split the track into the original torrent. I have no idea how i managed to do that, so the only way to make sure this live show didn't sound completely strange to my ears at that edit point between tracks 4, 5, and 6, was to completely re-do my original edit. Everything should be fine now. I sincerely apologize. I would recommend to anyone who downloaded the original torrent to delete it and download this one.

  2. oh! The reason they probably didn't do via Chicago is because there was a technical issue at the show. Through almost the whole song the main PA was out for Jeff's vocals and guitar that's probably why v

Ah, gotcha. Thanks for the info. I still cant understand why they played a song twice in a row on the broadcast, though.

  3. I'll post it after I split the tracks. There is going to be an error/omission on it. WXRT played "Nobody Dies Anymore" twice instead of Via Chicago. My gues is that Wilcoworld sent them the wrong file to play? I'm not sure.

  4. I just checked it out on Spotify...hard to listen to.  I always have respect for Neil but this is really some shit, worse than the CH record he made with all of the lullibys.

I have a copy of the audiophile verson of the record that was included with the vinyl set. It sounds much more listenable. The regular version sounds no better than a folkways-era field recording.

  5. Fear not, everybody. Its my day off from work,so I hooked up my laptop to my digital tuner, and I will capture the entire show. Its very possible with some assistance from a family member, that I will able to do the same thing for the concert on saturday, despite the fact that I will be there!

  6. I'm thinking that the band name could have been inspired somewhat by Mavis Staples. She only refers to him as TWEEDY, both publicly and privately! I've never heard her call him Jeff. If so, I think that's great, too!

  7. I've been reading the comments here, and I can't wait to hear this!  Btw, for those of you who want a recording, It's already available for Pre-order in the roadcase, so we'll get a nice soundboard of it. We just have to wait a few weeks. That's probably why security was so tight. The public debut of these songs for the masses will most likely be that recording, and they want people to buy it. Totally understandable.

  8. Way up there in all Tweedy shows I've seen. He was just in top form.

Agreed. I've been to quite a few myself. This was one for the history books. Pink Moon? I had always wanted him to do that one. He never had done it up until tonight, but for some reason, I'd always thought he should. I didn't request it, but it was my dream that someday he would. Thanks for the ticket, Jules! If it hadn't been for you, I would've never seen that. Now I've gotta put in a request to Wilcoworld to get this thing roadcased! I'll be first in line to buy a copy if they put it up. They'd make more money for Montessori if they would!

  9. I was there tonight. Front row. It was such a monumental struggle to keep myself there that i decided not to take any pictures, even thought i had my camera with me. I just decided to do nothing but have fun and live in the moment. I waited longer for that show than any Wilco gig(about 10 hours), and it was totally worth it! They brought the house down! This "Mats reunion, without a doubt, is working. The question now is, do they try to do more with it now or just play the riot fest gigs and call it a day? I'm inclined to think that maybe they should quit while they're ahead. In a lot of ways, the 2 shows they've done so far have actually improved their legacy, rather than subtracted from it, as reunions often tend to do, at least as a live band. These are full of the energy(and the fun) of the early 'Mats, without the drunkenness that often ruined their live shows.

  10. It would be good to get some reflection on the AGIB process.  The creative process has been well documented.  The interesting part for me is how Jeff was doing some of his best writing at the time, and taking new risks on the guitar to great effect, yet was apparently barely functional in the studio due to being at a personal low with migraines, pain killer addictions.  How was that for the band?  Leroy left right after.  And then how was it for Pat and Nels to join up when they were aware of that reputation?  And then how was it for Jeff to get way better and have the new guys vote of confidence?

I guess what I'm saying, is it's pretty nosy of me to want to know about it, but the group psychology at that time seems really interesting.  I think it might have been pretty shitty, which is likely why the guys have never talked much about it- which is totally their right to privacy.  I still wonder....

I pre-ordered this book awhile ago, and I received it from amazon yesterday. I'm now about halfway through it, and It's actually quite an interesting read, I think. It's a decent companion to Learning How To Die. It could  be considered  the updated version of LHTD. It goes all the way up to the making of The Whole Love, and it has exactly some of the things that a Wilco diehard like me would probably look for. a significant portion of the book is culled from interviews of the band from other sources(newspaper and magazine interviews and articles through the years), and while there are no interviews with the band directly, there are new interviews with the engineers of the various albums throughout Wilco's career(some who i don't recell being in the Kot book), including Jim O' Rourke, that give new insight to the recording process of the albums, particularly the post YHF era, which, of course, LHTD does not have. I think they're are new interviews with Billy Bragg as well. Looks pretty good so far. I'll probably have more thoughts when I'm finished with it.

EDIT: I quoted this post, b/c I'm currently reading about this exact time period in the book.
