Best. Day. Ever. I've been waiting for this leak ever since the album was announced. I never thought Armchair would be better than Eggs, then it kinda was. And knowing how excited Andrew himself is about Noble Beast, well, I'm just ecstatic!! Stupid slow internet connection.

Wasn't it nearly a year ago when they announced a summer 2008 release for their sophomore album? Apparently there was "label drama", but the album will finally be out March 3. Link

T, I loooooooove the 13ghosts!! I remember you guys talking about them a while ago, but I'm just now getting around to it. I'm SO far behind considering it's almost December... And that Wooden Sky is amazing. Top 10 stuff, I'm pretty sure. Maybe even top 5. -

Hey, it isn't often I get to pat myself on the back around here...

I wrote about them on my blog over a year ago. For you fans of The '59 Sound, you really should check out their debut Sink Or Swim if you haven't. I'm listening to it now for the first time in a while and it still sounds pretty good!

I did too. Though I agree with whoever said it was a bit frustrating trying to figure out who was narrating, once the pieces fell into place it was really great. And even though Yunior was the prototypical Dominican male, I couldn't help but hope for Oscar to LISTEN to the guy already!!! I know there's more I want to say on this, but I've spent an afternoon playing Cranium & drinking beer so the mind is a bit muddled... -

Yeah, where is everyone?? Maudie, my interpretation of the man with no face was as a physical manifestation of the fuku. I don't remember the man on the bus, and the book is back to the library. I wish I'd at least skimmed it again before I returned it... I agree about the women being much better developed as characters than Oscar. In my opinion, their stories plunged deeper on an emotional level, whereas what we know aboust Oscar is that he's a nerd and he falls in love too easily. Sure he was dumped by a couple of girls, but who isn't? On the other hand, Beli and Lola survived true -

I did the same thing, Maudie. I kept thinking that I really should get a translation, but I didn't want to interrupt the story! I felt like I got the basics in context, but it would be interesting to know if I missed anything major. I think Oscar's body size really just added insult to injury in this case. I mean, skinny nerds would be able to shed the sci-fi part of their being and maybe be able to pass as "normal" in the world, but even if Oscar did that he would still be very overweight, which is taboo in our society. As for breasts, and maybe a bit with Oscar's weight too, could b -
I'm gonna have to check this out. Thanks!
