don't you see that what you are describing are influences? i don't understand how anyone can think goodnight rose, tears of gold or pearls on a string are blatantly stolen from hearts on fire, ashes or a song for you. while it's debatable but widely believed that gram "invented" country-rock, he didn't invent the melodic waltz sound. c'mon. there are plenty of other artists who play country-rock. there's no copyright on country-rock, at least until metallica decides to go in that direction... antagonizing what light? priceless...

so............... sorry.............. for.................. the................ unintelligible............. post..................... .................................. ..........................................

it's just that you don't seem to ummm... comprehend the several other requests for examples of how ryan stole from gram.
-
i did miss that. must've been all the beeping.
-
thought i should check this guy out - never heard him before. sounds to me like he ripped off ryan adams though.
-
what light? has 600 cds and is an expert in every musical genre, especially gram parsons - inventor of country rock. Which is apparently why he/she doesn't need to defend his opinions. many people here, myself included, are ignorant and beyond help because we don't think ryan adams stole easy tiger from gram. ryan has a sub-par voice ( ) and his back catalogue is not worth checking out because he can't decide what style he wants to stick with. those are the main points. it's been a fun morning!

that's what i was aiming to get him to do... i failed miserably, however, and have managed to let it go.

oh, cryptique...

i recognize tori's talent... but i have never been able to get into her music.

yeah, no shit sherlock. so her singing them with ryan is meaningless? because she's sung them before it's ok for emmy but not for ryan? as someone who claims to be "a rounded music fan" you sure seem to be goddamn ignorant. or maybe you're just channeling gram parsons' angry ghost, i don't know. first you claim that ryan is blatantly ripping off gram, then you are condemning him for not being able to choose the "style of music he would like to be categorized". jesus. do you have no respect for someone who wants to make music, pigeonholed or not? i suppose we can just assume that in you

pin this, moderators! david dondero - simple love damn, this is good. just found out david is coming to town next month in support of matt & kim and against me!. odd combo, imo, but should be a fun show.

and again you are asserting that i have never listened to gram parsons, when i know full well that i am very familiar with gram's work. is gram parsons one of ryan's influences? abso-fucking-lutely. he and emmylou have even covered gram's songs in the past. but as to ryan "stealing" from gram on easy tiger? i don't get where you're coming from. give me some examples, please. in fact, how, exactly, does one "steal a style"? are you claiming that because ryan & the cardinals play some "country-rock" they must be stealing from gram parsons? is no other artist ever able to create an

but the thing is... it's just not funny. you are hardly the first person in the world to make "summer of '69" jokes about ryan adams. secondly, i resent your presumption that i have never listened to gram or the fbb. i have plenty. and i will listen to easy tiger again and again and again. and finally, if you are basing your entire opinion of ryan adams on just one of his albums, you are merely scratching the surface of his catalogue, which encompasses many varying styles of music. he's no one trick pony.
-
so you don't like him, whatever. the important question is - are you finished making the (really old) bryan adams jokes?
