  1. i'm so sad that they scratched no return from the set...
  2. i felt the same way the first time i listened to it... but the more listens, the more i like it.
  3. for some reason i've been ignoring it until now. it's great.
  4. he almost fell off the stage twice in denver... of course the hi-dive stage is roughly the size of a postage stamp... i know - he's tiny! beatific visions was def in my top 10 last year... i think i'm liking it even more than give blood these days.
  5. did you make it out for esp and pela? sounds like your crowd was roughly the same size as mine. the good news is i never thought i'd see them live, but now that i have it sucks to know they may never wanna come back...
  6. damn. i hate the fillmore.
  7. ditto. well, i'm maybe only on the 6th or 7th listen...
  8. although it's difficult for ryan to do something that i don't love, this album is... amazing. i'm currently on about my 4th listen for the day. i put on "gold" just a bit ago and got about halfway through before the "easy tiger" drew me back in. it's incredible. the only track that hasn't captivated me (yet) is "off broadway". i get to see him at red rocks in less than 2 months!!!! i think i said it in the np thread, but at any rate... pearls on a string = i adore the alt.countryish vibe of this album. so, so good.
  9. i'm in a mood.... i know gold gets slagged off a lot, and i'm not too sure why. i haven't listened to it for a long while, but it's still amazing...
  10. i was trying to hold out (on the demonoid leak) but couldn't make it... god this is a good album. pearls on a string =
  11. how about jenny lewis & the watson twins? i'd never categorize rilo kiley as alt country, but her solo record seems to fit the bill. steve earle; calexico; emmylou; amy millan?
  12. would you see bloc party or two cow garage? things to consider: i've never seen either band live. i'm not at all familiar with two cow garage, but i know they get a lot of love around here. i really liked bloc party's debut album, but the new one... not so much. bloc party is playing at the ogden - it's a decent venue, if you (well, if I at 5'2") get there early and find a good spot. two cow garage is playing at the hi-dive, possibly my favorite club in denver. the ogden holds 1600; the hi-dive, 280. EDIT: i forgot to mention opening bands. noisettes and the maccabees are openin
  13. the veils are coming thru here with the comas later this month...
  14. esp was fun in the way of banter, but as for the music, mostly generic british poppiness. seems like everything they played was released as a single across the pond. pela was fun and very energetic - good ol' rock and roll. have you listened to their latest - anytown graffiti? if you like it you'll like them. otherwise, you won't really know what you're missing. i hope you have more people stay for brakes than we did...
  15. i know i should be sleeping, but instead i'm jonesing for some ryan...
