  1. so, the last couple of hours have gone something like this: "The Thermals go right to your head The Thermals have sex in your bed Everything in circles" indeed. damn i need some sleep...
  2. just got home from seeing them, and i am fucking wired...
  3. i can't get enough of this album this week... seeing them tomorrow... march and april have been/will be especially good to me this year...
  4. definitely not a blues cover band. they are great live, and i love the new album "we all belong". think three-part-harmonies and good, poppy songs. the album has lots of horns that aren't represented on stage (tough with a 5-man line-up) but what the live show lacks in grand instrumentation it more than makes up for in raw energy. you should go.
  5. bobby and his band were lots of fun - great stage presence, crowd interaction, and they were just flat out having a blast!!
  6. they'll be in town monday, with the besnard lakes!
  7. Dr. Dog Bobby Bare, Jr. 3/20/07 Larimer Lounge, Denver These are two of the most animated and fun live bands that I've seen in quite a while. If you get a chance to catch them on this tour, do not hesitate!! Dr. Dog's set: My Old Ways The Pretender Ain't It Strange Worst Trip Wake Up The Girl Keep A Friend Easy Beat Fool's Life Today The Way The Lazy Do Die Die Die Oh No -encore- Say Something The World May Never Know Livin' A Dream
  8. when they first announced THAT tour, denver was on the list, only to find out later that the hold steady were NOT coming to denver... but i still get to see the thermals on thursday.
  9. brmc - baby 81 i'm not sure if i like this or not... i really liked howl a lot... but i'm only on the 4th song so we'll see...
  10. awesome! i can't wait for their next album, i love pretty much everything they do. the kexp broadcast is currently up at dime too: http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details...38871&hit=1
  11. voxtrot - voxtrot 5 songs in... holy crap this is really really really good.
  12. thanks for the review - aqueduct is coming to denver next month and i was wondering if i should go. think i will.
  13. i know, rich, i know... it was just one of those nights where i wasn't into it. i think it was a dreary monday and the show was doing nothing for me...
  14. i wouldn't call it record of the year, but it is a great album. i'm seeing them next week!
  15. oh, i also walked out of a john mayer show. my sister and i went b/c guster was "co-headlining" with him. of course, they got about an hour set and john went on forever. personally, i would've left right after guster, but my sister kind of likes john mayer so we stayed. but even she was bored enough by the encore that she was ready to go.
  16. well, the show started really late, it was a sunday night and my friends and i were all pretty tired. it wasn't a bad show, but nothing spectacular. i don't think i have, but at my first "real" concert - bruce & the e street band, 1986 i think - one of the kids in our group fell asleep under a sleeping bag on the field at mile high stadium...
  17. you guys will probably think i'm crazy, but here are some that i can recall from the last year... Beth Orton Charlatans Twilight Singers North Mississippi All-Stars (I went b/c Jenny Lewis opened, left right after her set) Ben Lee My Morning Jacket and most recently - snowden on friday night. i went b/c malajube was opening and i wanted to see them. i gave snowden a 5-song chance but was extremely bored, so i left...
  18. sunday afternoon already? i'm listening the the thermals... got back from the midlake gig about an hour ago and really need to get to sleep. this time change is going to fuck with me something serious this time around, i'm afraid.
  19. it's very good. the live show is amazing.
  20. saw them opening for snowden tonight (well, i actually went to see malajube). they stole the fucking show.
  21. i was a bnl junkie from like 1994-1998. i always loved the live show too, though the last time i saw them was probably circa 2000... the last good album they put out was 'stunt', imo. last year's release 'barenaked ladies are me' was just... awful.
