  1. did you see these two at the same show?

that was the first time i'd seen MMJ, opening for Beth in '02, they blew me away.

i actually enjoyed Mayer SOME (just his guitar playing really) the first time i saw him in '01 before his first big album was released. played to a half full small club and i went on the recommendation of a friend (we don't speak anymore :lol).

but i saw that same tour you saw a year later just to see Guster & Martin Sexton (2 of my absolute FAVORITE artists live), and left before John to go see The Shins @ a small bar :)

No, not the same show. Saw Beth in fall '06 I think. It was a late show and I was tired so that probably didn't help but I was bored to tears. Bored at MMJ too, that was January '07.

I wish Martin Sexton had played when I saw John w/Guster! At least Guster was worth it (always are). We were just pissed off though because it was billed as a co-headlining tour and Guster played for about an hour and John played for two hours and was still going when we left. Actually, I think Trippin' Balls opened for Guster that night... I've seen them so many times it's hard to remember... but that was fun.

  2. I know of a few personally, but I'd be interested to find out how many married/dating peeps found each other through VC.

    Confess.

Also love how Dunja mentioned Donna... It seems like she's been the VC mom forever!! I remember sending a care package to her before I even met her in "real" life. When I did meet her I picked her up for a Wilco/REM show (we may have gotten lost) and took her & Brennan to shop for snacks... I just remember Scooby Doo fruit snacks. :lol My family tends to think I'm crazy about it, but I have met the most awesome people ever through message boards like this one.

  3. I joined VC in 2002 (I think); I've been through a couple of board crashes and had at least three user names (nothing than MS since we were allowed to change our names)...

I initially joined for the live show trees - back when I was really into trading live shows (now everything's available for download). I didn't even visit the forums back then, just signed up for the trees. These days I rarely set foot out of the "Someone Else's Song" forum unless it's for the LOST thread. My interest in Wilco hasn't waned, per se (though I wasn't overly impressed with the last album) but I never visit the Wilco music forum. I'm here mainly to find suggestions on new music and great albums that you all are listening to.

I consider a handful of people here to be good friends, I'll never forget the Wilco Red Rocks shows of 2003 where I met several of you. There are also many others here that I've never met in person but would consider a friend. And if it weren't for VC I would not be writing for The Line Of Best Fit, 'cause I met Thane & Hughes (the site's founders) here.

So all in all, VC has contributed to a big chunk of my life. Honestly, though, I don't even associate it with Wilco anymore. I associate it with finding most of my favorite music ever, and having the chance to write about that music. Over the past few years, music has become the biggest passion of my life, and I don't know if I could say that if it weren't for this place.

    :wub :cheers :hug

    I like this topic.

  4. That's not what he said - he said Sawyer as LaFleur would remember the events of 2004, on the island after the crash. He's talking about whether LaFleur would recognize young Ben.

  5. The characters are merely vessels going on different paths. It seemed to me as though the 70s versions were completely unaware of their mental past (but actual physical future) exploits, which led me to think that although the characters were shown in different time zones, they were actually unconnected, but we, as the audience, were again filling in the missing gaps in the backstory and assuming they were connected.

If I understand what you're saying, no - they are completely aware of what they did, ummm or are going to do, in the future. I mean, Sawyer went to get Juliet to deliver the baby, saying that he was taking her out of retirement (or something similar). He is perfectly aware that she's a baby doctor in the future.

    As for Ben, fwiw

I read on Lostpedia that the actor who played young Ben is returning this season.

  6. As far as the benjamin timeline thing goes, if we don't have exact dates or anything, its possible he was born in 1965 and shows up in 1977, after the most recent episode takes place. Who knows? When I first brought it up I was just saying it occurred to me that he might have been there in those years.

I could believe that. He looked about 12 when he and his dad showed up. I was always curious why Horace and Roger were still in touch after all that time, it seemed like Horace had been on the island long enough to establish some clout.

  7. And it's always possible that we just haven't seen that interaction yet. Everybody's back to the island now with what, 10 episodes left? They have to save SOMETHING for later...

  8. Something just occurred to me - why the heck wouldn't Widmore have just flat out told Desmond that Ben had promised to kill Penny? At least he could have been keeping an eye out...

Though I'm still holding onto hope that Penny, Desmond & Charlie are all fine n' dandy.
