  1. No, you've done enough. Give up and write him off. There's no reason to force it.
  2. May 20-21, free festival in Atlanta (at Centennial Park) hosted by Southern Comfort. Must be 21 or older to get in. Flaming Lips and Big Star are playing, not sure who else. Did I mention it's free.
  3. That's good to hear. I'll probably swap my tubes out pretty soon. I've never done it. Is there anything I need to know in order to avoid electrocution, or can I just unplug the amp and get to work?
  4. Did you have any trouble replacing the tubes? Many of the reviews at Harmony Central say it is hard to access the tubes due to protective metal plate, or something.
  5. Yeah, it even looks a lot nicer than the photo in the link. In my opinion it's the best looking amp currently on the market (let's just admit it: appearance matters). Great sound, too. I've read that swapping out the stock tubes (Sovteks) with JJ/Teslas makes it sound even better.
  6. I just got a Traynor Custom Valve 20 (YCV20WR) and love it. They sell for something like $500-$600 new, but you can find them on ebay for $350. It's a 15 watt tube amp, but if you need more power they make 50 and 80 watt models. These amps have more features than most other 15 watt tube amps on the market. The 50 watt got Guitar Player magazine's "Editor's Choice" award, for whatever that's worth. http://www.zzounds.com/item--TNRYCV20 EDIT: As was mentioned above by another poster, they also make a 40 watt model. It might be the 40 watt that got the Editor's Choice award, and not the
  7. I'll get everyone I know to vote for you if you agree to send me that Les Paul once you get your new Gibson.
  8. Make sure you know what you're doing before you mess with the truss rod. You might be able to find a guitar repair book at your library that will have all the info you'll need on setting up your guitar to your liking.
  9. What type of Tele did you get rid of? My gear: Guitars: Fender Muddy Waters Tele Danelectro Mod 6 Seagull S6 Acoustic Bass: SX Jazz Bass copy Amps: Behringer Vintager 112 (guitar) Peavey TNT 115 (bass) I'm hoping to upgrade to a better guitar amp after I take a month or two of lessons and get a better idea of exactly what I want/need. Drums: '65 Ludwig Super Classics, Black Diamond Pearl '65 Pearl, Tiger's Eye Pearl (Both are 4 piece kits w/ various cymbals) Keys: Wurlitzer 206-A Electric Piano (student model w/ built in speakers) Some sort of Yamaha keyboard Conn Home Organ (Grand
  10. Those are nice amps. They make a Classic 30, also, which is probably $50-$100 cheaper and might be better as a practice amp. The Classic 30 is definitely on the short list of amps I'm considering (along w/ Ampeg Jet and Fender Pro Jr. & Blues Jr.) once I can put aside another $100 or so.
  11. Blues Jr. is 15 watts. Hot Rod Deluxe is 40 watts. Other than that, I don't know what the differences are. I'm leaning towards getting myself a Pro Junior, but lately I've been advised to get an amp with a master volume control, so I'm considering the Blues Junior as well. Pro Juniors are supposed to haver better tone, though, so I guess I'll have to do a comparison test at a shop that has both amps. If you want to know all about Fender stuff, this isn't the place to be. But this is: http://www.fenderforum.com
  12. I LOVE my new Fender Muddy Waters Telecaster. I got it for $499. It's made in Mexico, but it has better quality pickups than the Standard Mexican Telecasters. Red (the only color available, since that's what Muddy had) wouldn't be my first choice, but I've quickly grown to really like it. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Gui...tric?sku=510630
