And Cracker is boring too, but I don't know if that quite rises to level of blasphemy. -

F! Eggo panic! -
That will vary widely - one of the effects of the Information Age is that anybody can find any sort of news to suit their pre-existing prejudices. For many, if they hear something they don't like, it's much easier to claim the source is biased, rather than to try to adjust their viewpoint to deal with the new information.

Yeah - not having an HD TV, I am skipping all of that. The World at War pretty much wipes out and slaps silly all other WWII docs, including Ken Burns'.

I personally wish they would show more WWI and Cold War-themed material, and maybe more cultural history type stuff.

Like all demagogues, Beck will be revealed in time. He is into some seriously nutty stuff, and while quite a few people will follow him down that path, hopefully to a jungle compound in Guyana where grape Kool-Aid will be served, most people will lose their taste for him in time and latch on to the latest button-pusher. Or he may be sane enough to laugh (or cry) all the way to the bank. Either way, I think we would all be better off watching cable news less and the History Channel more.

Your favorite 80's American "college rock" band

I cranked the hell out of Paul's Boutique my last semester in the dorms. I voted for Hüsker Dü, which won out by a doink over R.E.M. HD connected with me a bit more when I was young and angst-ridden. (And HD did not survive to shit all over their legacy.) Another band I liked back then which one doesn't hear a lot about anymore is Killing Joke. -
Yes. Religion doesn't cause the crazy, it is the conduit for the crazy. Any ideology will do.

If Gandhi was sent to hell, I will go to hell too. Any entity who would torment the Great Soul is not an entity worth worship.

I don't think they get pitted against ALL Christians, but there are the Christians who can't live with the fact that everybody is not a Christian.

I wonder if people still claim to be Napoleon when they are taken to the nut house? -

Y'know, no country gets to be on top forever. Ask the Brits. -
I would actually give the annoying prize to the Christians, because at least the atheists aren't condemning you to hell if you don't agree with them. I mean, what an awful thing to threaten someone with.

I don't know if Obama had anything to do with it, but my health care has just been un-rationed. -

I have heard that for the Detroit automakers, health care costs (for both current and retired employees) are 50 PERCENT of their total costs, so I would imagine businesses would be at the barricades with torches and pitchforks demanding reform. And yet they do not seem to be. -
That's what Thaddeus Kosciuszko said!

No. Insurance companies should be eliminated and the government should pay it all (single-payer). We would all pay more in taxes, but less in net health care costs. That's how it seems to work in every other industrialized nation. We as a people may be too dumb to understand that, though.
