  1. Well, Modern Times was shit on a stick, so... :boff

I like the fact that there's a discernable melody here, and that it sounds nice, and I also like that I can't immediately place the lines Dylan is singing. Hey, it's a start, right? I don't see how you can fault me for that. Hopefully it'll be at least as good as North Country's "Tell Old Bill," a song I liked a whole bunch.

i agree about the soundtracks. And I wouldnt go as far as to call Modern Times shit, I would say its just okay which in turn makes it severly dissapointing since its a bob dylan album.

  2. he's a smartass, not a jerk

    big difference :)

mostly cuz i'm the former and not the latter myself ;)

ehhh i dont know when i think smart ass i think more of john lennon's wit. He just comes off as arrogant and not very intellegent at that.

Again never said that made me like his music any less i just think less of him.

  3. There's a short sample of this song over on the Sony Music Store site. It sounds a lot better than most of Modern Times, which is unsurprising when you consider that Dylan almost always hits 'em outta the park on soundtracks.

in what way??? its a 30 second clip and both lines rhyme! what does this tell you about how good the song stacks up to full length material we've already herd?

  4. anyone think he seems like a compelete dumb ass????

I love his music but every time he gets interviewed or opens his mouth and is not singing i find it harder to like him.

In that interveiw it just seems like he thinks he is god and talking "down" to his musicans. MY roomate got the Live in Jamaica dvd and he just seems like a compelete joke.

  5. i've gotten into this same arguement numerous times.

If its a band like the dead, bob dylan or wilco i ussaly listen before the show because i know their catolouge is big enough that i wont go inside only to hear the same songs.

for smaller groups i ussaly listen to something in the same genre just to get in the mood, theres nothing worse then going to a show and not being in the mood for that type of music.

  6. can't see Matt really playing Lolla, not his scene/style at all, nor would i care to see him there really

i figured with the populartiy of Post War, my mroning jacket, death cab, bright eyes all having played in the past there was a chance.

I def. agree id rather see him elsewhere, but id see him anywhere.

  7. also

Will Oldman or Califone maybe band of horses

Looking over the line up again there are a lot of good acts, i was just expecting a lot better after last years line up. But then again this isnt the full thing so some of those names could be added

  8. what were you expecting/hoping for? more hippie shite?

first off i dont know what the fuck that means

secondly personally i was hoping to see some of these names:

    Arcade Fire

    M.Ward

    Joanna Newsome

    Bright Eyes

and I was expecting repeats from Wilco and Andrew Bird

  9. Lineup... :blink

  10. hehehe two grateful dead refernces in one short wilco article.

Too funny considering out of all the wilco albums i think you hear no grateful dead influnce (except on What Light which reminds oh so much of Ripple)

  11. Okay i live in the neighboorhood and am a vegitarian so take my word on this.

DO NOT GO TO THE CHICAGO DINER, over priced and not very good its mostly just fake meats anyway.

    INDIAN FOOD

I recomend Star of India, its right across the street from the vic(oppiste side of the street across belmont) you can get an excellent indian buffet for 8 bucks.

DINNER FOOD WITH MANY VEGGIE OPTIONS

Also if your gonna go to a diner skip out on Clarks and check out PICK ME UP, they have several veggie options (tofu scrambles, veggie burger, hummus sandwich, veggie chili and some more stuff). this place is a block north of the vic on sheffield (expect to pay between 8-10 for a meal)

    THAI/Asian

I recomend COZY or Pennys both are close to the vic. Cozy is across the street from pick up me so its a little over a 2 blocks. Pennys is also on sheffield near pick me up. If you go to cozy get the Cashew and ask them to make it with tofu veggie style (if you dont metion veggie style they will use fish sauce) they also have very good veggie rolls and red curry with cocunut milk. You can get a great entree for about 7 bucks there and its a really cool atmosphere, nothing like any thai resturant youve been to.

If you have any more questions about the area feel free to pm me
