  1. also if this record isnt amazing its no reason to jump off. Jeff has put out great albums time after time, iveyet to hear analbum he made thatididnt like. It would be nice to know he's human he wasstarting to scare me.

ETA: sorry my computers all fucked up and i didnt realize my words were running together

  2. theseylrics havedef. notbeen up to par.

I haveno probelm with bands having funandd mkaing a party record. The music to many of these tracks is awesome but on a lot of the same tracks the lyrics rely on rhyming (rock myself, what light, letsfight.) out of those three id say what light is the only wone that really works. Lets fight sounds awesome but "lets fight.....tonight!" aint my cup of tea sorry. From the lyrics of rockmyself it sounds like tweedy is saying he is burnt out.

I hope this isnt mangement and the label pushing the band to put something out quickly in order to supply a demand. I don't blame jeff if this is the case i rember reading someone say that he said how sick he was of playing kingpin, io wouldnt be suprised if they are sick of all these songs, most bandsthat tour as often as wilco change their set list up more often and i dont care if wilco plays the same show everynight or what theydo i would imagine they area ll preety tired at this point and the music is starting to show it. jeff can still right great songs (look at "aFD" or"BAIUSA)

  3. well from experince they ussaly allow you to tape from wehrever. at the aud theathre in 04 someone had a stand in the middle of the crowd

i'm down with the idea of a tpers section but i dont think wilco has enough tapers to make a tapers section.

plus many times taper sections are placed in bad locations

  4. anyone wanna tab out to go home? i know its a d. johnstons song but i love m.ward verison and cant figure it out im realtivlty new on guitar. if someone could just post the chords it would be great

  5. Fun shows in the Mid-West but I gotta say the band w/ Herring & Haynes ('01-'02) was perhaps the fuckin' Uber -Jam band of all time (at least post-GD) :music

    Scott

which midwest shows did you catch?

    I saw

    Bonnaroo

    Camden, Nj.

    Holmedl Nj.

    Inidinapolis, In

    Chicago Il,

    10k,000 Lakes Festival

  6. Nice to see ya back......How's Phil tour these days?I did a east coast tour in 02 and the crowd was pretty rough, could of been that coast though.

phil has been playing really well, his singing has even imporved one day when i have time ill upload some stuff from the tour. This band is so soild.

The scene was much cleaner on the east coast then ive seen it in a while, not a lot of dirt.

  7. I wan't aware he HAD PLAYED IN THE GD!!!

I was referring more to his non-Dead input, but still, he's "covering" GD material, regardless. He does a few tunes off of his Phil & Friends album, but the GD stuff is being interpreted by 1/6 of the original GD with other non-GD musicians. He does a lot of covers that are not GD, as well.

Your second point about him actually singing the Ryan tunes is what?

my point wasnt directed at you someone else metioned that he had joan singing them and i was just pointing out that he has taken vocals on some of these tunes

I think he might of been refering to another post saying Joan sang a few of them.

jc4prez............haven't seen you in a few months, and ya come out gun's a blazin'

yeah ive been on the road most of the summer, seeing concerts and stuff. Saw a bunch of Phil shows over the summer.

  8. Really not too weird, actually. Ryan was in Phil's band for a spell last year. Phil does mostly all cover tunes in concert. Phil and Ryan are puportedly collaborating on an album, as well. Phil is a big Ryan fan, and vice versa.

first off phil doesnt do mostly covers lol HE WAS IN THE FUCKING BAND!

secondly phil is actully singing lead on a bunch of these like Cold Roses, Nobody Girl and Let It Ride (WHICH IS DOES REALLY WELL!)

  9. I was walking down the street the other day

and a sight came before my eyes

it was a little hippie boy, I must have been twice his size

his appearence typified his strange breed

gaudy clothes, long stringy hair hanging down

I'd seen perhaps a thousand in my early trips to town

as he walked beside me on down the block

    I noticed no unpleasing smell

he might have been on the weed or even LSD

but if he was I couldn't tell

so we walked together that way through this neighborhood

finally he turned around to me

and he said friend, you know we're a million miles apart

but you know something we can enjoy the sunshine and the weather

so why don't we put our differences aside

and just talk to each other

you see this box beneath my arm

to you it's plain, it has no charm

but to someone dearest to my heart this box has played a tragic part

this little one can't tell you himself about his life and how he died

but if anyone else could speak for him I guess I'm qualified

this boy was in Chicago, he didn't know why he was there

he was with his family and friends and he didn't really care

you might have been one of those

who saw the struggle there on your television screen

the tragic thing is so much else happened

that no one else could have seen

a stranger handed this boy a dollar to do a simple chore

to carry a package to a nearby hotel

and when he returned he'd get two more

but when he came back he sort of lost his way walking thru the crowd

one of them things you ask yourself, how the Lord allowed

but when he was found he was like he is now

    dreaming sweet and still

and in his little hand was a crumpled dollar bill

now you can take that dollar

get four cents on it compound itquarterly at any downtown bank

so they can back some hot new tank or atom bomb

well, what I'm going to tell you now, you can stay or you can leave

you kind of listened to my story so far but just one more thing

it's the same for any hippie, bum or hillbilly out on the street

just remember this little boy and never carry more than you can eat

now could you help us sing this song, please

there will be peace in the valley for him now we pray

I will think of the little hippie boy that way

  10. late night and early morning low clouds

    with a chance of fog

chance of showers into the afternoon

    with variable high cloudiness

    and gusty winds, gusty winds

at times around the corner of

    Sunset and Alvorado

    things are tough all over

    when the thunder storms start

    increasing over the southeast

    and south central portions

of my apartment, I get upset

and a line of thunderstorms was

    developing in the early morning

ahead of a slow moving coldfront

    cold blooded

    with tornado watches issued shortly

before noon Sunday, for the areas

    including, the western region

    of my mental health

and the northern portions of my

ability to deal rationally with my

    disconcerted precarious emotional

    situation, it's cold out there

colder than a ticket taker's smile

at the Ivar Theatre, on a Saturday night

    flash flood watches covered the

    southern portion of my disposition

there was no severe weather well

into the afternoon, except for a lone gust of

    wind in the bedroom

in a high pressure zone, covering the eastern

portion of a small suburban community

with a 103 and millibar high pressure zone

and a weak pressure ridge extending from

my eyes down to my cheeks cause since

    you left me baby

and put the vice grips on my mental health

well the extended outlook for an

indefinite period of time until you

come back to me baby is high tonight

    low tomorrow, and precipitation is

    expected
