  4. The funny thing is I’m not even opposed that much to a UBC law. I guess being in Minnesota I have had to show my Permit to Carry (which required an extensive background check) for every firearm I have ever purchased, Including face to face private party sales. I have found that gun owners like to know who is buying their firearms, the only thing I didn’t have to do is file a 4473 or an NICS call, but as I said before, it would be moot anyway with the CC. For as rampant as these undocumented sales seem to be, I would think that in the last 20+ years I have been shooting and purchasing firearms
  5. If you are referring to face-to-face sales, the same standards apply. If you advertise on message boards with the intent of reselling firearms you are engaged in the business of selling firearms and fall under BATF and FFL regulation. If you advertise on Gunbroker to sell firearms you can be sure the ATF monitors that and if you are deemed to be acting as a dealer, you will get a visit. Their are existing regulations that need to be enforced, and if the language governing face to face personal sales is too vague then that needs to be addressed.
  6. On the whole "gun show loophole" thing. If you are a dealer selling at a gunshow you are required to do a background check and collect a completed 4473 along with a call to NICS before you can hand over a firearm. If you fail to do so you are in violation of law. If you are an individual who rents a table to sell firearms at a gun show, you are now engaged in a business that would most likely require an FFL and fall under the same requirements above. Let's drop the whole gunshows are an unregulated free for all for criminals and gun nuts.
  7. Can someone help me wrap my mind aroung how joining the armed services is now a social program or saftey net. The last time I checked when you signed the enlistment contract, the Government essentially owned you for the term and can assign you to do whatever they see fit. I don't think that occurs in any of the other programs, i.e.. MA, unemployment, Section 8, etc. I don't get the correlation.
  8. Keep in mind, Louie thinks that enlisting in the armed services is using the government saftey net. I'm glad that junk bill died.
  9. Don't try and bring that to NYS when you get it. That is an assault rifle. http://www.governor.ny.gov/nysafeact/registration-questionnaire
  10. I think this was the "motherfuking" that was being refered to by Hixter.
  11. I think will exercise my 2nd Amendment right today and purchase another firearm. I've had my eye on this beautiful little stainless steel Sig 9mm for awhile now.
  12. It's the NRA thing isn't it? I didn't think you'd approve.
  13. I joined the NRA last week. I've been involved in hunting & shooting for over 30 years and this is the first time I've felt compelled to join.
  14. Louie is just really passionate about this stuff. He's not normally like this. Yeah, I can't say that and keep a straight face.
  15. I'm pretty sure that Canada's "long gun registry" has morphed into something they never intended it to when the legislation was passed. The definition of banned firearms has been modified to include additional firearms that were not included in the original legislation, not through additional legislation by elected officials but by bureaucrats in charge of the agency in charge of the registry. This has resulted in confiscation of previously legal firearms from law-abiding citizen, so it does happen.
  16. I always find these debates humorous, like anyone is going to convince others of an opposing viewpoint to change their minds. I guess I would fall on the pro-gun side but I will admit that people who should not have firearms are getting them and using them to commit horrendous acts. What I don’t understand is why if it is agreed that universal background checks to reduce straw purchases and help regulate person to person sales could have the most positive outcome on this problem, that isn’t the main focus of these bills? Why is it that whenever there is a tragedy to exploit the clamor is to
  17. I think it will ship in the next day or so. I called before finalizing my order and they had cases in stock. I was able to get 500 rds of M193 from Cabelas just over a week ago. I don't know if 48c per is reasonable but it's cheaper than I've seen lataly. If you check some of the dedicated gun sites regularily, AR15.com, etc they have real time updates on availability but you need to move fast.
  18. Nice, I just ordered 500 rds of 5.56 X 45 from Midway.
  19. Let me embrace my inner gun nut for a minute. I do not want to debate what you posted, but I would like to clear up some misconceptions that are being spread around. First of all the “Assault Rifle” misnomer is BS, the AR-15 platform (AR) doesn’t stand for “Assault Rifle” it is an abbreviation for Armalite, the company Eugene Stoner worked for when developing the M-16, M-4 platform and while the civilian AR bears cosmetic similarities, it lacks select fire capability. A true Assault Rifle or squad weapon hasn’t been available to the general public in nearly 80 years. (I’m not saying you ref
  20. You can discuss whatever you like. I guess I'd better go protest Planned Parenthood since that's what people like me do.
  21. Has anyone actually ever been a proponent of the current laws on drug use or the status of gay marriage in this country on this board? I can't recall that actually ever being the case but I may be mistaken. We wako, gun-clinging, tea baggers aren't known for having great memories.
  22. "Military Assault Rifles" have been banned since the NFA of 1934 and have been for all intents and purposes unavailable to the general public since that time. But go ahead and classify any weapon that bears any cosmetic similarity to a military weapon as an "Assault Rifle".
  23. You should have been investing, great return. I own multiple guns, including two dreaded Bushmaster AR-15 carbines. I shoot regularly at the local range and have been active in our local concealed carry training courses, including training sessions with the Minneapolis Special Response Team (SWAT) at our local range. I don't know if firearms are necessary but as long as I have the right to own them I will. As of last night, New York state should be the safest state in the union.
