When I read the headline this afternoon, my heart skipped a beat. Over the last fifteen years, few filmmakers have meant more to me, or been a more personal face of American cinema to me. We have lost one of our vital voices.

I can't tell you how many times that advice has kept me out of harm's way.

I like Common. I have never been in a Gap store, but I think I will try it now.

This is the first thing you've ever said that disappointed me. But I still love ya.

That's impressive, but it'd be more impressive if he could actually finish it. -
It was a joke.

Don't know if this has been posted already, but I thought some of you would get a kick out of Office Space recut as a thriller.

Kael is two. Tonight, I was watching Sunken Treasure when she came running into the room and said, with perfect articulation, "Ah, Jeff. Tweedy." I looked at my wife, and she just started laughing. We have no idea how she knew that. Osmosis, I guess.

"I Voted For A Loser" Commiseration Thread

Same here. I feel very strongly about the gay marriage ban--not to mention that other regressive move, the death penalty question--but I also didn't expect it to be rejected, so I wasn't too disappointed. I still felt energized about the elections overall. Thank God Mark Green was sent packing... And I think I danced a little jig upon hearing about Rumsfeld. It was crazy. -
Yeah... normally I wouldn't even consider missing a Wilco show in Madison, but serious family obligations are probably going to prevent me from going.

If news coverage is a form of political capital, then this move steals some capital from the gloating Democrats. The press were talking strictly about Democrat victories; now they have to allot room to cover a Bush move that, while desperate, can be spun as "positive."

"Gypsy! Give me your tears. If you will not give them to me, I will take them from you! Who is this lady you have shrunk?"

It might be worth noting that there are partial performances of several other tunes as well, including a backstage version of "Satan, Your Kingdom Must Come Down" and a montage of city footage set to "Radio King."

Hasn't he also equated that activity with bestiality?

One of the best music documentaries in recent memory.

I also have a framed copy of this: But my wife forces me to hang it in the basement.

I'm bragging, not sharing!

I expected sharper satire and less general silliness, but I still laughed a lot.

Who would you like to see open for Wilco?

Yes. -
Does this mean his performance in Harold & Kumar was Oscar-worthy?

Most of my extended family thinks she's completely on target. What they don't understand is why any thinking person wouldn't like her. Sometimes, for sport, I hang Angela Davis posters before inviting them over.

I have some mp3s of Mende covering some Tweedy: Acuff Rose, Black Eye, Gun, Forget the Flowers.
