A night after a show in Dallas that was unfortunately marred by a few distractions, it would be easy to make the argument that Jeff returned to his comfort zone by accepting the always-friendly embrace of an Austin audience and turning in a performance that was — dare I say it? — warm. Whether that was due to the audience's relative familiarity with Jeff's catalog or its abundance of Stetsonian headgear is, I suppose, a subject for debate. But undoubtedly, Jeff seemed especially comfortable on stage and even said as much just before his final number. "This is always one of the best places to

Jeff Tweedy — 1 March 2019, Oklahoma City, OK (Auditorium at the Douglass)

Cool, thanks for the report. Funny about Coyne. Wonder if Jeff knew it was him asking the question... -
Don’t have WiFi access at the moment, so just getting the bare bones transmitted on my phone and will hopefully follow up shortly. But anyway, file this one in the list of shows that have been derailed to a certain extent by one (or a couple) of people who somehow thought it would be a good idea to get ripped before going to a quiet solo acoustic performance... You knew something was going to have to give eventually when Jeff started his set with Via Chicago and a very boisterous — some might say obnoxious — woman sitting in the middle of the orchestra section loudly yelled out at the first

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to make this one, but no reports yet? “Wilco” already posted the setlist on their Facebook... Yes, indeed. RIP Mr Tork.

Don’t normally start these, but couldn’t help wondering how there are RIP threads for Kofi Burbridge and Andy Anderson, but not Mark Hollis..

A bon bon? Sorry, had to.

Foxwarren is his “supergroup”/side project. Glad they got them because I don’t think that band is gonna tour a lot...

Haha, was he wearing a Warm hat? I like when artists wear their own merch, actually. It's kind of endearing. Yeah, again, sorry I missed you. I did step back a bit after Jeff's set to hang out with some friends by the side bar. Glad you made it to the show. I like Lincoln Hall when it's like that — fairly full, but not super packed. I still think it's maybe the best room in Chicago. Too bad they don't get as many bookings (at least of stuff I'm interested in) as they used to. Thanks for reading! Whitney as a two piece was pretty stripped down, as you might expect, but still compelling.

Are you suggesting a re-creation?

Excellent work, Herr Tatlock! I do remember the last Apollo show being a rather lifeless performance (probably because the entire audience stayed firmly glued to their seats the entire time), so hopefully this one will be a bit more energetic with the GA standing. And if a foreign date is indeed in the cards, you ought to consider venturing to Cologne and partaking in some kolsch with 50footqueenie and possibly a foreign interloper...

Since a couple of us Chicagoans were discussing it elsewhere within these VC corridors and I think at least one or two VCers were there, figured I would at least file an abridged report from this Valentine's Day Planned Parenthood benefit show (incidentally, Jeff labeled Valentine's Day "corporate bullshit," though he still played a few love songs for the assembled throng)... I suppose we were lucky to get even five songs from Jeff when the rest of the acts on the crowded bill (mostly consisting of local young up-and-coming acts, though Whitney got added at the very last minute and played as

Thanks, Vince. That's the outcry I was looking for! Haha, it's just funny to me that whenever new tour dates get announced, no matter where they are, all the comments on social media are invariably like, "When are you coming to [my town]?" I totally agree! The European date format is not to be messed with, hence my post titles in After The Show.

Hadn't seen this posted on here anywhere, so figured I would at least mention it... Looks like tonight at 10 p.m. Central time — that is, 27 January — WXRT will be premiering Jeff's Live From Studio X set taped at Subterranean in Chicago on (I believe) 13 December. Here's some more info, as well as a video of a 15-minute interview with Marty Lennartz apparently taped before Jeff played. Looking forward to hearing the performance!

At yesterday's (Jan. 26) Live From Here taping at Chicago's Symphony Center, host Chris Thile, guest Gaby Moreno and the LFH house band covered Shake It Off. Although it's not one of my personal favorites, it reminded me how long it's been since I've heard that one...

They at least considered it, because there are vinyl test pressings of it. But for whatever reason (financial?), they decided ultimately not to press it on vinyl officially.

Thanks for sharing. Couldn’t help but notice, since you mentioned the talk in SF last night, that you didn’t mention Jeff’s comments vis à vis Bruce. I thought Jeff’s take was interesting, particularly because like myself, I consider myself a pretty big fan of both and I don’t think I’m alone here. But I do find it interesting what Jeff said when asked (and I’d be interested to hear Bruce’s take on Jeff’s, if he is really even knowledgeable enough about it to comment).

Cool...should be a fun night.

Even better! Glad I bought a ticket. You gonna go?
-
To be honest, I wasn't really clocking the various sets but I'd say Jeff was on stage for about 90 minutes on average. There were maybe two or three fewer songs played at Largo than, say, shows on the fall solo tour. But you also have to keep in mind that at Largo, he probably ends up talking quite a bit more than at an average show, so you have to factor that in as well.
-
Yeah, I dunno! Valentine's Day maybe?
-
Really? When I click it, it takes me to the Ticketmaster.nl site. I've bought Paradiso tickets through them before, so maybe try that? Like I said, one of the two shows is sold out so you won't be able to buy tickets for that one except through secondary market sites...

In addition to all the newly announced Jeff solo/Warm tour dates, it looks like he'll also be headlining a Planned Parenthood benefit at Lincoln Hall in Chicago on Valentine's Day. Lots of cool local acts on the bill. Tickets already appear to be on sale.
