  1. Yep, thanks for pointing that out. I noted the same thing to myself at the time (and also included that fact in my tardy, but finally completed, recap above). Thanks for reading!
  2. Well, what else can I say about this tour kickoff show in the picturesque city of Trondheim, Norway, except that I think it might have been the second-furthest north that Wilco has ever played — trailing only Fairbanks, Alaska, where the band performed just over a decade ago and which is just a hair further north than Trondheim by latitude, according to good old Google. What, you thought I was going to lead with the dawn of the Ode To Joy era? Oh, OK, I guess there was also that small matter of a new album on the horizon and the introduction and incorporation of a new batch of songs into the
  3. I will go ahead and call them “Amerikanske rocklegender” when I see them...
  4. No, we wouldn’t have been together at the stage that night. I hadn’t reached peak psycho, early freakdom yet, so as I recall I was somewhere in the front half of the floor. I think I may have gone with a work friend of mine who I bonded with over music and the Jayhawks in particular. He ended up fairly quickly settling down and getting married and having a bunch of kids and, well, I went down a different road...
  5. Thanks for the quick update/report! Sounds like it was fun time. Seems like Jeff’s set was a bit short, though, even for a festival. I don’t know, maybe not. At least he got a nice melon out of the trip! Glad he’s continuing to play Plateau. Seems an appropriate cover, especially for the Seattle area. Who was Novoselic there with?
  6. Thanks for the quick update/report! Sounds like it was fun time.
  7. It’s also in the middle of nowhere, and there’s a homeless shelter in the same building! I don’t get why Toronto doesn’t have a more suitable theater venue than this, or is it because Live Nation owns it so they get certain bookings almost by default?
  8. Well, in that case, you’d probably need the Neko Case/Kelly Hogan duo, no?
  9. He definitely played IG because I was listening to the live stream, but they cut off the last few songs to cut over to Dawes so would be nice to see the complete list. Also, Jeff apparently made a cameo at Mavis’ aftershow at the (I think) Pickens. Anybody make it to that one/know what they played together?
  10. I was kind of on the fence about it, but I could only make it for Sunday and the one-day tickets were long sold out so unfortunately I probably won’t make it at this point. But yeah, a setlist and report would be great. Looks like a beautiful part of the world...have fun!
  11. No encore? That’s too bad. Cool that he did Plateau again, though! Thanks for the report.
  12. Wasn't sure where to put this, but this seemed like as good a place as any... Sounds like a fun show to have been at. Wonder if anyone on here was in attendance (I'll bet solace was, though I don't think he frequents these parts much anymore). But anyway, I didn't even realize this show had happened until I stumbled on the article about it today. I guess Jeff has pretty much moved past GS these days, but it's nice to hear that the other guys seem to still find a way to play together every few years, even with Dan Murphy technically having "retired" from music.
  13. That was my thought exactly, Tim. They should have made it way more limited at that price point IMHO. Even 500 would probably have been a lot.
  14. Nils (if you ask more than a few people, embarrassingly)...
  15. I wanted to throw out a non-musician, but I guess I’ll go with either Richard Thompson (or maybe Nick Lowe)...
  16. Just wanted to add my kudos on a nice recap/gallery! Some cool shots in there.
  17. World Away and Low Key, as well, from Sukierae. Unfortunately I had to miss Jonathan (and Tommy Larkins) this go round — their set was delayed a bit by weather and possibly other factors — so others shall have to chime in. I was told JR was as charming as ever, however, and danced his way into the audience's hearts. A certain Scotsman who frequents these parts raved about the JR set, so I'm sure he can add something at some point...
  18. Another Solid Sound Festival in the books, and there's always that bittersweet feeling about walking out of the Mass MoCA campus following the traditional Tweedy and friends Sunday afternoon set. Some magic always seems to happen during that final 90 minutes before everything comes to an abrupt end and everyone goes their separate ways, and this year was no different. Much more to come about stupid rainbows and things like that, but for now here was the complete setlist as played (the core Tweedy band for this show, in addition to Jeff, was: Spencer Tweedy on drums, Liam Kazar on bass and Ja
  19. I was already a fan and, judging by the number of Feelies T-shirts I saw, it seemed like there were quite a few others in attendance as well. They basically played their "hits," in addition to the Neil Young cover with Jeff, but an hour-long set just isn't enough to give a true sense of what a proper Feelies show is like, IMHO. Hopefully they made at least a few new fans. Seemed like a lot of folks were just glad to finally have a chance to see them play live since they don't tour out of the Northeast all that often. Anyway, out of habit, I jotted down their set as well so here's what they p
  20. Ah, thanks for the printed setlist info. If you can't beat the FB groups...right? And yeah, I was fully expecting A Magazine Called Sunset last night as well because of the article in one of the area papers about the only local among the karaoke singers. Her entry submission video was Magazine, so I was surprised when she ended up singing Nothing'severgonnastandinmyway(again). I wonder if that was her decision to change or if the band asked her to. (Incidentally, we saw her helping direct traffic among the crowd exodus from Joe's Field after Wilco's set tonight.)
  21. There’s always so much going on during the one full day of the Solid Sound Festival — in my mind anyway, Friday and Sunday are almost half days — that Wilco almost becomes an afterthought at its own festival. That’s total hyperbole, of course, but between checking out art, music and comedy, navigating Mass MoCA and its various quirks, dealing with the weather and just trying to take it all in, you do almost forget sometimes that a big reason for many people to attend this biennial gathering in the Berkshires is to see Jeff and his bandmates perform a couple of memorable sets. So as weird as i
