If so, that's great. I know they've done various charitable things in the past as well, like special dinners or whatnot. But I don't recall those being sold along with the regular tickets before. Anyway, I guess my point is that if Solid Sound is (or was) supposed to have an "anti-festival" ethos — that is, not having stuff like VIP tiers and such — then I hope this isn't a step in that direction. Yeah, those tickets totally went up early. Friend of the Fest was already gone at 9:59 when I tried. Oh well, guess I'm just a regular schmo as always. The pop-up part of the VIP sounds interesting, but I'm sure a lot of folks were drawn by the promise of some sort of semi-private bathrooms, to be honest. Funny, I always thought the ethos of Solid Sound was that there wasn't supposed to be a VIP tier. Guess it was inevitable, though.

He hasn’t really said much about them, but I’m pretty sure they’re not on WARM. Clearly he’s still working on material, such as the unfinished song he played in Spokane. Whether they’re destined for a future Wilco record, another Tweedy band album or another solo project, he hasn’t indicated, at least publicly.

Well that's a wrap on another Jeff solo tour, and the final show of the run went off more or less without a hitch. No hecklers, a minimally rowdy crowd (which included Jeff's sister and brother-in-law and more than a few friends) and a familiar and acoustically friendly setting, among other factors, meant Jeff could really present the show he seemed to want to on this tour and he responded with a generous performance. Figured someone else would've posted the setlist by now since apparently this one was available to be seen/heard over the Internet, but I guess not... Less than 20 hours after walking off stage with thoughts of a heckler on his mind, Jeff found himself back on stage in his "favorite" setting to perform solo acoustic — namely, the outdoor festival. And fortunately for both performer and audience, there were no hecklers in sight, or at least none that could be heard anyway. Hoo boy, I think it's going to take a little while to completely unpack this one. I'm fairly confident in saying Jeff probably didn't take the iconic Fillmore stage — in San Francisco, of all places — expecting to get into an extended political discussion/debate with a "fan" standing front and center whom he felt was trying to taunt him. But that's what happened a little over halfway through his set, and despite Jeff's best efforts to get things back on track, there was a lingering awkwardness for the remainder of the show. I have not been asked. Sorry to disappoint. Seriously, though, it will be interesting to see who they get to moderate these. I hope folks will report back each night, since, sadly, I won’t be able to make it to any of these (will be out of the country that week). Also, I know Eric Spitznagel was involved as a co-writer (or ghost writer) at some point — Jeff wrote the foreword for his book Old Records Never Die a few years ago — but I’m not sure if that lasted through the whole process. Wondering if he might be in the moderating mix, or maybe he’s too close to the thing.

Ah, the enduring mysteries of a Jeff Tweedy solo show. How does he never (or almost never) drink anything on stage and yet his voice remains unaffected? What’s going through his head at any given point in time? Does requesting songs, via Wilco’s Web site or shouting them out, even make any difference? Perhaps questions like these are better left unanswered. Or perhaps they’re just unanswerable, even by Jeff himself.
