  1. Aww...bummer. (Fwiw, though, I bet that parking pass will be pretty in demand. )
  2. Not sure what the deal with Wilco Schmilco is but I heard the vinyl of Nels' record was delayed because he rejected two test pressings. Personally I'd rather wait a little longer and get the best possible pressing. Too much new vinyl these days has quality control issues, IMHO.
  3. I've got an extra orchestra single for the Wednesday 9/14 show at the Ace Hotel if anyone is interested. Just looking for face value, which was basically $75 including fees. Let me know...either by replying here or e-mailing me at thevalet [at] gmail .
  4. Of course they're gonna mix it up. I won't say they will play no repeats for five nights, but having seen the band a handful of times, I can say with reasonable certainty that there will be some variety in the Fillmore setlists. A more interesting question, perhaps, is whether there will be five different posters or just one for the entire residency?
  5. Trey bangerz sounds good to me (but maybe I just have sausages or rappers on the brain)...
  6. You would have preferred triad? Or trio? Triumvirate, perhaps?
  7. I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing the Harris is where the band held its aftershow reception for guests. I mean, imagine how many guests the band must have had to accommodate for such a big show in its "hometown."
  8. I'm sure plenty of folks will chime in eventually, and maybe I will add more too, but as Jeff basically said in his radio interview with the Current prior to Saturday's Minneapolis show, this is the setlist he has come up with that he feels works best for a big outdoor show and the band is pretty much sticking to it for the time being (though as Jeff also alluded to in the interview, that could end as soon as they start playing more intimate indoor shows starting next month). In any case, there weren't many surprises for those who have been following the band's recent performances — although
  9. Somewhat of a formality in posting the setlist here, since the show was live streamed, but anyway it turned into a lovely night after some intermittent sprinkles. And a pretty fun show, too, that ended up stretching to nearly two hours and 20 minutes. Here was the complete setlist, as played (there were no changes from the printed list): More... Random Name Generator The Joke Explained I Am Trying To Break Your Heart> Art Of Almost Pickled Ginger Hummingbird Handshake Drugs Cold Slope> King Of You Via Chicago> Spiders (Kidsmoke) (electric arrangement) If I Ever Was A Child Jesus,
  10. I don't ever trust Setlist.fm to be totally accurate, but I guess it's better than nothing. Anyway, I would bet almost anything they flip-flopped If I Ever Was A Child and Jesus, etc. in the above list. One good thing about a relatively static setlist is that you know where stuff usually tends to go, and in this current one, everywhere else at least, Jesus has immediately followed Spiders followed by the two Schmilco songs back-to-back. Also, I'm guessing they didn't follow up Red-Eyed>I Got You with the "Sesame Street" Outta Mind (Outta Sight) but rather the rockin' Outtasite (Outta Mind
  11. Slacker Wisconsinites..:would it kill you to take a few notes? Just kidding (kinda). Thanks for your post, Ms. (or is it Mrs.?) Stone. Glad you enjoyed the show and for those who like to bitch and moan about setlist variety and the like, it's always worth remembering that there are far more people who only get to see the band once or twice every couple of years if they're lucky. I've been thinking lately that there's no way to make all your fans happy all the time. So you try to appeal to the most people you can as often as you can. That might not be the strategy that makes Wilco a "cool"
  12. Just one big lawn. You can't really see the stage very well unless you're at the very front of the lawn area, which would probably require getting in line fairly early. There is a huge screen that may or may not be used, so that could help with viewing from the lawn. Any reserved seat in the pavilion will have a view of the stage, but it's a pretty wide stage so closer to center would be ideal (obviously). The 200s should be fine, depending on how close you need to be for your definition of a "great" seat. If you're used to being pretty close, then probably something in the 100s would be bet
  13. Unfortunately not! Sounds like that was a bad one to decide to sit out, given the number of cool people I know who are going, but something had to give. Thanks for the offer, though!
  14. Sometimes you walk out of a show on a cloud, just knowing deep down that it had been a thoroughly satisfying, life-affirming performance. And then other times, you walk out with a bit of a sour taste in your mouth for whatever reason. Usually these feelings are utterly personal, based on your own perspective, your reaction to the music itself, the talent of the performer, the energy of the audience or any number of other factors. A great show to one person might be somewhat disappointing to another. So feel free to take this with a grain of salt, but for me, this show at the Fabulous Fox just
  15. Managed to sneak into the in-store performance and signing at Euclid Records that just concluded — the band might still be signing autographs out back — so I figured I'd post this quickly... This was a relatively short (28 minutes, by my watch), acoustic (mostly), mid-afternoon set (prior to the Fox Theatre show later that night) by the band before a crowd of about 175 folks who had pre-ordered Wilco Schmilco. Jeff said it was good to be back and remarked that he never worked at this store location but had worked for Euclid Records once upon a time (and was fired). It was pretty steamy in th
  16. Very nicely written and summed up, I must say. Not always easy to convey Jeff's banter, but good job with that. Anyway I didn't want to quote the whole thing again, but kudos to you. We need more of this around these parts!
  17. Very sad. The man was one of the greats in jazz. Love his Blue Note work, both as a leader and sideman.
  18. Don't have time to write much of a recap right now, but on a typically steamy summer evening, the enthusiastic crowd gathered in the relatively intimate backyard confines of CrossroadsKC finally got a chance to see some of Star Wars performed live. It was at this venue, after all, just over one year ago when Wilco played its final show before the surprise release of the record, the songs on which have formed the backbone of the band's sets for the past year or so. One must keep that fact in mind when looking at the setlist below, which on the surface resembles the one the band has more or le
  19. Oh, thanks for the info! Jeff's comment makes much more sense knowing that (though his clarification of said comment last night then might be a bit more confusing in light of that ).
  20. Man, I really have to get some sleep. These Pickathon late nights that go past 2 a.m. are doing a serious number on my ability to recharge the proverbial batteries. But before I turn in, I feel compelled to at least write a few words by way of trying to recap Jeff's second (and final) solo performance at the festival. Of course, by the wee hours of the morning, Jeff was long gone from Pendarvis Farm and probably resting comfortably in a hotel bed somewhere. However, before he left, he turned in a delightful 68-minute set of songs on the much-adored Woods stage that is arguably the most distin
