  2. Ro - I, flattered by the offer and if I was anywhere nearer your age and single - maybe. But alas that is not the case. My brother lived for year in Manhattan. I certainly over used his guest futon to visit the city. Do you get the same kind of thing and have constant weekend visitors?
  3. I would be soo there, but still find it sorta strange.... http://wrens.com/lessons
  4. I wonder if they'll include The Safety Dance on the new one?
  5. wow, the wrens sure have done a boffo job redoing their CD art!!!
  6. Didn't see any vinyl or Cds but it was really crowded so I might have missed them. Huge Variety of T-shirts and a couple posters.
  7. thanks Rich. Umm, that's a bit too orchestrated and Rod McKuen-like for me. (the Rod Mckuen analogy is in no way a slam - at all. If Rod's songs are good enough for Johnny Cash and Rich Rubin, they are good enough for me)
  8. My fascination with this Andre Eithier guy is starting to know no bounds. Stream the first and second song from here and then come on over to the dark side: http://www.myspace.com/andreethier 'in with the Pirm' is especially fantastic. Looks like its all gonna be released by Paperbag Records on CD called Seconathallum on August 8th. If the whole thing is as strong as these 3 songs, it will zip zoom to my favourite release of the year.
  9. yeah, I know, I know..... someday.
  10. Paul - I got them booked them into a small club in April after hearing the CDs only last December. I'm probably not the first one to mention them through. They've got this rapid and deserved following and it's great to see. Again, double damn, We should have stopped the car and just walked in. How was the Martin Tielli? I guess I can appreciate what the Rheostatics do, but have never been a huge fan. I'll see you at a show sometime.... You gotta come back to see such bands like the Constantines, Two-Minute Miracles, the Rizdales and the Deadly Snakes on their (somewhat) home turf
  11. JT - one of the cover filled Lounge Ax shows from 1997. Just making up some CDs to give to the people I dragged to the Local wilco show. 'I ain't making it with Henry and the H-bombs'

  14. Don't know if you guys noticed, but after Tweedy came back on stage with the flag, he dropped it on the floor, thought for a second and rushed back to pick it up and place it on an amp. I don't think we Canadians noticed or thought about the signifcance of a flag hitting the ground, but I just thought it was a funny little incident.
  15. Hey, I run Mellonville's finest Adult Book and Video emporium. You wanna talk comics? Just come on by and look for me, the guy with the snake on his face.
  16. oh yeah, Hal Jordan was ten times the Green Lantern that you'll ever be there, Bub!
  17. when the mothership comes down during Bootsie's solo, there must be 18 people on stage all dressed in African/sci-fi clothing. to answer your question - all six members were on stage for the recent London show. Jeff Tweedy, John Stirratt, Glen Kotche, Nels Cline, Pat Sansone, and Mikael Jorgensen with Pat going back and forth between wind-milling a guitar and doing the old 2 handed at 90 degrees keyboard thing.
  18. just listening to the Myspace stream. This is good - 3/4 of the Weakerthans plus Jolie Holland. Have to pick it up
  19. shit - I drove by Aeolian Hall just to see if stuff was still going on at about midnight. I looked deserted, but there were plenty of hookers on the stroll and crack deals going down - so the husband and I called it a night. Damn , Damn, Damn - both about EB and missing you. I'll try to figure out how to get the Pics off the cell phone and post them up. - T (aka the BROOD pimper)
  20. Loved that - It was my first time seeing Neu-Wilco. I'm with the poster who decries Centennial Hall. It is an acoustic hell hole. For instance, on the balcony, you could sorta tell that the Ms had good songs but you couldn't make out any lyrics. Loved the version of Handshake Drugs. That bassline is just soo fantastic and seeing Nels Cline freak out was really great. I brought a number of other people with me and and they were all suitably impressed. Only one MA song in the setlist and I pimped the 2 Guthrie CDs and YHF to get them interested in the band. I'd been telling these peopl
