  1. Yikes. Sorry to hear that. In my small town, the party was better attended than expected--there were four of us. Originally I had a work meeting in direct conflict, but the presenter ended up canceling at the last minute so the meeting was cut short. (At that point I literally ran to my car.) I was still about 15 minutes late to the listening party, but the store manager offered to play the album a second time just for me. Very cool. Afterwards he told me to take all of the remaining stash, so I have quite a few stickers and posters.

They must have been selling the vinyl well all day, because by the time "Shrug and Destroy" came on, they were totally sold out.

Would you want to maybe send one of those extra stickers and posters to SE Tennessee?
  2. On October 18th 2006 you told me Wilco would come back here where I live to play again. You have never played here again. I go stand in that place where you played and cry sometimes. Ok, almost everyday. If you ever come back here - bring some hankies.

    :lol
  3. Nice! When did you get the order update email from kung fu?

I'm not sure because my husband ordered it. Not sure if makes a difference, but he ordered within the first 4 hours of the pre-orders being up
  4. I'm planning on going to a local record store listening party on Tuesday, and I'll refrain from getting it till then. I suspect they'll be selling the CDs then too.

And then I can post in that other thread.

Cos god forbid if you post in that thread without having heard it! They'll kill ya in there! :lol

Jealous of everybody that gets to go to a party.

I wonder if the pre-order store will stay open after Friday? I kinda need a shirt, but don't have the $ right now

  5. Hey I totally understand being "true" to the band or something, but then why did you download it early in the first place? And how can you possibly resist listening to it after you've downloaded it?

If you live in south Florida I can point you to a store that already has it for sale on the shelf.

The album has been legally obtained now by several people. Should they not listen to it because wilco is having a promotional event at a record store?

    Scratching my head here.

For me it's about the community. That's why this place used to be so awesome. Everybody chilling together talking about the new record. I'm waiting to listen until around the same time as the listening parties are going on to be able to talk about it with all my friends that are lucky enough to go to the parties.
  6. I downloaded it.

However, I am not going to listen until Tuesday, because that's when the listening party is.

I justified downloading it because the nearest store hosting a party is 2 hours away. I can't drive that far for the party, but I still want to hear it at the same time as folks at the party. Plus, I've purchased 3 copies of the record already, so....

  7. I'm debating about not listening if it leaks.

Not sure I will actually hold out, but I'm thinking about it.

Remember when YHF leaked and somebody was cool enough to mail copies to those of us who couldn't listen due to dial-up internet? Man, that was a long time ago.

  8. Paul McCartney Bridgestone Arena 10-16-2014

    - this was the concert of a lifetime for me because the Beatles are my reason for liking every bit of music I like to this day. They're the band that made me start playing guitar when I was 11. Paul is my favorite Beatle, so I was stoked to even get to go, but my husband pulled a fast one and got us the soundcheck VIP tickets, so I ended up getting to be 3 rows from the stage in the center and I made eye contact with a freaking Beatle. Nothing will ever top it.

Wilco Thomas Wolfe Auditorium Asheville, NC 10-14-2005

    - first Wilco show ever. They opened with "Misunderstood" and I sobbed.

    Wilco Tabernacle 2-10-2016 & 2-11-2016

    - first Wilco show after I lost my mom. The first time I got to be in my favorite place not feeling like myself. Certainly one of the most shows things I've ever experienced. I had purposely stayed away from listening to Wilco while I tried to piece my life back together, debated about not going to the show at all, because I took everything so hard, but I went and I left feeling ok, things happen, but eventually they're ok again. I've learned that through music, most specifically Wilco's music.

    Neil Young Fox Theatre 2010

We had seats in the 3rd balcony, and even though we were so far from the stage it was so loud our seats shook.

Wilco Solid Sound 2015 Night 1

This show ruled so hard because of all the warm fuzzy feelings of being around so many friends from all over the country.

Wilco May 4 2015 STL @ The Pageant

Got to be on the front rail when I turned 28. Best birthday I had as an adult.

    Old 97's Newby's Memphis 2005

This show was special because we drove 6 hours and my best friend came down from Chicago. It was our high school graduation celebration, and the band made sure everybody at the show knew it.

Merle Haggard 2013 Tivoli Theatre Chattanooga

Merle Haggard is my Papaw's favorite singer of all time. For Christmas that year my dad got us all tickets to go with him. It was awesome to see how happy Papaw was- exactly the kind of happy I get when I see my favorite band.

  9. Very long time since I've been on VC and thought I'd chime in.

With the utmost gratitude to the Wilco family (you know who you are!), me and my family made it to this show. Ran into SarahC and her husband walking down the street in Atlanta, which was a real treat! Then talked to Paul and Vince in line for a few minutes. Good seeing you guys! Sorry I couldn't stick around longer. Back problems!

I don't know how many times I've seen Wilco. Not a clue. But I'd put this show down as one of my favorites so far! Sounded amazing! All the new songs were as good or better in concert than they were on the record. I loved seeing the Red-Eyed and Blue and I Got You combo again. Made me feel a bit nostalgic.

I enjoyed the unplugged encore as well! I'd kinda like to see that turned into a tour in and of itself some day!

A great show, all around! Glad we made the trek and beyond grateful that we had the chance to see the best band in the world today!

I think we have good sidewalk karma. :lol

I'm so glad you guys made it to the show. It's always fun to run into you!

  10. I kinda thought last night was more fun. The crowd around me last night was markedly better behaved than night 1 except for the guy on my right yelling "Land Ho!" at Jeff a couple times. That was dumb. I dunno why people insist on telling stuff at the band at shows. The excitement around where I was was fantastic during the loud rock parts.

Electric "Spiders" was so good. I'm glad they played it.

Also "Star Wars" is a ton of fun live. It's every bit as enthralling as the album is, except with the great benifet of being louder (unless you've got humongous speakers!). One thing I noticed last night was during "Where Do I Begin", Pat plays guitar too sort of doubling Jeff's solo chord bit at the beginning, and he was really having to watch Jeff, I think Jeff maybe started a little fast. I loved being able to see the chord changes for a lot of the songs and I was trying to take mental notes of them to try at home.

Every Wilco show I see is better than the last one. I'll never be disappointed in anything they do on stage cos they do it so well.

I got a set list last night thanks to Matrix, so I'll post it when I get home tomorrow.

Also the poster was really nice, a good compliment to the previous nights.

Also, very fun to hang out with a few VC folks (dagwave(hope you didn't run away and join Girlpool!) and theashtraysays) apologies to a few people I hoped to see but didn't. After the show things got a bit crazy.

I sure hope we don't have to wait a long time for Wilco to get back down south. It's always a good time when they do.
