  1. As it looks - dark and dirty rock n roll... They're great live, saw them at ATP this year... the front man is just incredible captivating live as he squirms and spits the lyrics out... The albums don't quite capture the energy of them live, but it's still impressive stuff.
  2. Yeah, I oinked it last night... For me:
  3. I really liked it, had it to review, got more of an edge to it that previous Pernice Brothers recordings. I think they're a band that you either or love or hate...
  4. Girls Aloud - Somethin Kinda Ooh Honestly, this'll get you out of bed in the morning...
  5. Haha - There's a couple of good tracks on there... What do you think of that Pernice Brothers record?
  6. I thought sporting cliches were my department?!?! Welcome on board though, there's a couple of us brits here...
  7. On BBC Four on Friday night... Cambridge Folk Festival 2006 1/2. Mark Radcliffe and Verity Sharp introduce performances from this year's festival, including The Chieftains, Teddy Thompson, Nickel Creek, Roddy Woomble and Emmylou Harris. 8. Intriguing! Nothing had touched Bewilderbeast, that's for sure, but I've found him sounding safer and safer as things have gone on. I miss his ability to prevert what you think of as a song and every has the element of the About A Boy soundtrack to it now - he's settled down and become just a little bit boring... perhaps I need to give it a couple more spins.
  9. I've still not made my mind up about that BDB album yet... there's some songs on it that instantly jumped out on me and others that didn't. I'm surprised that you like it Kyle...
  10. I think it's definitely tighter than Give Blood... but I'm not sure they've lost the charm that won me over originally... they sound like another indie-band with nice riffs, and it's really only his voice that sets them apart from everything else around... I'm giving it another go ...
  11. Yeah - I was mightily pissed off at that - all settled down, shirt on... nothing, the buggers. Good game though and another win. If they get through the the final I'm there, and I think the semi's are at the Millennium Stadium too, so might try to get to those... Looks like Shanklin is the main man at the moment - playing out of his skin.
  12. Ditto! I was taken to his local once in Woking when I lived up the road but, alas, he wasn't in that night... not sure what I would have said to him either...
  13. Plan B Compilation: Songs in the key of B
  14. I've not made my mind up either... I need to give it a couple more listens I think...
  15. great way to start a dark, dull Monday morning!
  16. It's a bit cheeky to hi-jack this thread of sorts, but going to the Paul Weller section of the Electric Proms website http://www.bbc.co.uk/electricproms/paulweller/ throws up a quote from me in the bottom right hand corner
  17. True, some of the reviews can be a little light, but I usually just get it to hear about new bands... the free CD with it this month is rather spiffing... For me this morning: Fields: 4 From the Village EP (making use of the free downloads from iTunes with Coke)
  18. I liked AiH... great fun live, there's plenty of them and they're very animated on stage. I saw them towards the end of last year... http://www.cdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=2197
