  1. Oooo... thanks for this, looks great! Rolling Stone did have some trailers for the film running on their site last week.
  2. Yeasayer - All Hour Cymbals Maybe not as knock out as I was hoping, but it's still a really good album. Very 80's vibe to it, touches of Talk Talk, early Tears for Fears...
  3. That's the one, yeah! I thought it was really good!
  4. WELL... I'd start at the beginning... IMO he's not released a strinker yet. So, as Ben Folds Five, start with: Ben Folds Five Whatever and Ever Amen The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner Then solo: Rockin' the Suburbs Songs for Silverman His EP's are worth getting to, though they were collated into Supersunnyspeedgraphic: The LP All of them are great though! So it doesn't really matter where you start (though Songs for Silverman is a more reflective album and lacks catchy tunes).
  5. Haven't seen any of the Sarah Jane Adventures yet, which is a shame, but I did watch an animated adventure the other night and it was really bloody good... wish I could remember the name of it, but it's well worth tracking down. I think they've only done one. I'm not a fan of Extras, but might watch that one! Still no Torchwood news though... which is odd. Though they're reshowing it on BBC 3 in the uk, so probably a recap before Season 2 starts...
  6. It was telling that in the Observer Music Monthly magazine this sunday, which I only opened yesterday, out fell a catalogue for "indie clothing and accessories" from some company trying to flog you a lifestyle via a t-shirt or a belt buckle...
  7. I'm enjoying this more than I thought I would after reading some of the negative views here. The Observer Music Monthly gave it 5/5 over the weekend. Some of the guitar work is fantastic, great, chunky riffs again. It reminds me, in places, of Sleeps With Angels...
  8. Better than I expected after all the negativity in the other thread... some great guitar...
  9. I've not heard this yet, so if anyone would be kind enough to hook me up I'd be forever thankful... I've heard the free mp3 floating around and, whilst it didn't blow me away, I rather enjoyed it. If the whole album is like that then, whilst it won't go into my favourite NY pile, it'd still be a good record.
  10. The UK music scene is certainly dead at the moment - too many skinny young men with guitars playing them all the same way. I've argued this for the last couple of years - my favourite album of last year (M. Ward) came from the States and the vast majority of this years list will come from either the US or Canada. Something needs to happen in the UK to blast these losers out of their comfort zone, both the journalists and the artists, and do something, anything, different.
  11. An interesting discussion on the Guardian Music Blog: http://blogs.guardian.co.uk/music/2007/10/...ker_for_ro.html
