Who does Rutgers even play?

Well, nobody yet but we'd sure kick the Gamecocks ass if we could :P .

All kidding aside, it's a big deal here cuz the program has struggled for sooooo long, and the area has been starving for a winner for years. There's so much high school talent in this area that has gotten away for years and years, but now we're starting to keep them home. Winning 4 games on the road (NC, Navy, S Florida, Pitt) is just something that doesn't happen here.

I actually lived in South Carolina when I was a kid (Spartanburg to be exact), and I loved the excitement down there for college football. The Northeast just doesn't have that kind of buzz when it comes to college football, but here's hoping Rutgers can reverse that trend.

I'm still not sure how good we are yet, but the Louisville matchup in a few weeks should shed some light on that. One thing I do know is that we have 2 running backs that will play at the next level, and I don't know how many other schools can say that right now.

Yeah, the Northeast is hardly a hotbed of college football mania. I'm in CT, where they have at least been making a genuine attempt to drum up support for the UConn program, but in all honesty, basketball is the only college sport that gets much attention around here.

The brightside to the lack of college football in the northeast is that it generally means that there is a lot of Big Ten coverage on TV, so more often than not I've been able to watch most OSU games.(even in years when they're not a national contender) So I dunno, the emergence of Rutgers (and BC turning into a consistent winner) could be a bad thing for me, in terms of local TV coverage. :upset

OSU looks poised to be contenders for a long time though, so you'll be seeing them nearly every week for quite a while.

And yeah, Rutgers plays weak competition, but they look legit, strange as it seems. No, they're not going to compete with the best teams in the Big Ten or the SEC, but they're definately for a very good team this year.

:lol

I didn't mean any offense by my post. I honestly have no idea who Rutgers plays. Big East conf?

And I can understand your excitement. With our history, we get excited when we win 7 games a season. But yes, SC does have a great football atmosphere, mostly due to the rivalry between SC and Clemson. Here, you're either a fan of one or the other. That's it.

I don't think you have to worry bout ever losing out on the Buckeye games, since the Big Ten ratings have always been good in the tri-state area.

True. Hey, I'm all in favor of Rutgers putting together a good program. I just hope those Jersey recruits don't start deciding to stay home! That state has been a prime recruiting spot for the Big Ten for ages.

:cheers

Of course so long as they get the job done against the Buckeyes, it doesn't matter if they're #2 or #3 going into that last game....but its nice to see anyway. I was a little worried about this week's game early on, but Mike Hart got the job done later on. And Adrian Arrington makes them just fine in these upcoming weak games until Manningham is fully healthy.

Arrington's status on the team could be in doubt. According to this AP report AA may need to go to AA.

YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) -- Michigan wide receiver Adrian Arrington has been charged with misdemeanor domestic violence, stemming from an alleged argument with his girlfriend.

Arrington, 20, was arraigned last week in district court and a pretrial hearing is set for Nov. 1.

If convicted, Arrington could face up to 93 days in jail and a $500 fine.

According to the police report, officers responded to a call from Arrington's girlfriend, Jodie Hupe, about 3 a.m on Oct. 13. Hupe said she picked up Arrington from a bar and they got into an argument. Arrington grabbed Hupe's keys, pushed her out of the vehicle and drove off, the report said.

Hupe had some scratches on her hand from the keys, the police report said. However, it said she did not want to press charges and was only concerned about Arrington driving because he had been drinking.

A not guilty plea was entered on Arrington's behalf, and he was released on a $10,000 personal recognizance bond.

Michigan coach Lloyd Carr said he was informed of the incident last week.

"If he was drinking, I have to find that out, and it is a team issue," Carr said through athletic department spokesman Bruce Madej. "And we handle team issues internally."

Arrington, a junior, has 25 catches for 357 yards and four touchdowns. He has been more involved in the offense the past two games with star wideout Mario Manningham out following knee surgery.

No. 2 Michigan plays Northwestern at home Saturday.

October 13 just happened to be the day before the game at Penn State.

Wait, did this incident happen in Ann Arbor? Was the team still in Ann Arbor that night? I would think they would have been in, or on their way to, Happy Valley at that point.

Ypsilanti is the location of the district court, I think. Or is that part of the complex at Main and Huron? I don't think it is...

I assumed from the by-line that this occurred in Ypsi. According to the Bar Journal, 15th Dist. Ct (Main & Huron) covers A2, 14-B Dist Ct covers Ypsi Twp., and 14-A covers the rest of Washtenaw. And being picked up at 3:00 a.m. on the 13th would be early Friday a.m., so I assume it was the end of the Thursday night bender. The team probably left for Happy Valley later that Friday since it was an 8:00 pm kickoff.

That makes sense.

You really did your research.

Anyway, good thing they have 3 easier games in a row now. That way Lloyd could hand out a 2-3 game suspension to Arrington and still have him back for OSU without the team being hurt too badly. I think they can still win the next 3 games with a receiving unit of Breaston and some scrubs, especially since Manningham will probably start playing at least a few drives per game pretty shortly.

This Michigan football player sure did get punished for his illegal behavior.

He's my personal favorite football playing criminal.

well seems like just about every year we have someone on the USC team who gets accused of rape and then the charges just sort of dissapear.

One of the guys who got charged for rape 3 years ago was at a party at my house a few weeks ago getting lots of girls numbers, so I am inclined to believe alot of the charges are true.

And then some UCLA guy was driving drunk and flipped over a car and injured the passengers neck, and then fled the scene. He's still on the team and no charges against him.

If only us chess team members had the same protection.

Seems like an awfully big jump to assume he's a racist because he was getting some girls' numbers. I'm certainly not saying that he isn't, but I mean, dude...

Anyway, I worked with a guy who's girlfriend was a victim of Larry Harrison's porch masturbation. Hilarious.

I didn't say he was a racist!! Just the stories ive heard about this particular guy and the way he was going about getting numbers was a bit odd. The girls I talked to gave him fake numbers because they were creeped out.

Football players don't actually get in trouble for breaking the law. At least not in California.

Where I come from, football players only get in real trouble after they've gone so far over the edge that there is no longer any conceivable explanation for why they keep self-destructing.
