mountain bed
A basset hound-type dog broke its leash a few minutes ago and came after Kerry. I spun Kerry around a few times on his leash, using centrifugal force to keep the other dog at bay. It was the second time today that a dog came after Kerry that I was afraid he might kill if sufficiently provoked. What kinda dog is Kerry? I got a Basset & although their bark is mean-sounding,they're as mellow as they come
Duck-Billed Catechist
Kerry is a chow. When I say "he" might kill another dog if provoked, I mean Kerry might do the killing. I haven't ever seen him be very aggressive towards another dog (and he is completely docile with our cats), but I imagine it's possible, given the breed.

deepseacatfish
nice a second (third counting me) person into cigars! have a favorite smoke?I'm not quite that much of a conniseur, but love me some good cigars. My roommate of two years ago was huge into them, got a bunch of them in Belgium I believe, so I smoked a bunch then. Delicious. Definitely a fan, but the middle of Iowa isn't exactly a cigar smoker's paradise

bjorn_skurj
BIG FULL MOON: Tonight's full moon is the closest and biggest of 2006. Why? The Moon's orbit is lopsided: one side is closer to Earth than the other. When the Moon turns full on Sept 7th, it will be on the close side, making it seem a bit wider than usual. Look for the extra-wide Moon rising in the east at sunset--very pretty.

Reni
wow, the things you miss when you're in bed at 7pm. I love Iowa - it's beautiful. I don't like cigars - though I do like the heavy air in Havana when it smells like cigars and the ocean.

Thanks for that tidbit, missy. On Saturday, Sarah and I were walking with the dog, and a cranky old yellow lab attacked Cooper. Sarah had his leash, and was terrified. It pissed me off, because it was the second time this has happened with this particular dog. It's sad to think about having to wear steel toe boots just to take a walk.
