jakobnicholas
The tone of this thread is that Seger sucks and his music should never be played again. I could give a crap if anyone likes him or not. I'm just saying, in my opinion, the man has some great, great songs that many have never heard....mostly because of classic rock stations deciding what's "good" Seger. If one thinks the songs played on classic rock stations are a barometer of Seger's songwriting skills, that's too bad.
cryptique
I don't dig the guy's music, mostly it bores me. But that guitar lick to Mainstreet is pretty cool.I like "Main Street," but the actual street that he's singing about is kind of lame. Maybe it was cool back in 1976, though. isavedlatin
dude, "night moves". especially when I'm drunk. remember the video with what's her face from melrose place. "old time rock and roll" I really can't stand though.
Mr. Heartbreak
He's got a handful of hits that still hold up well - Night Moves, Mainstreet, Turn The Page, and Against the Wind, in particular. Unfortunately, he's also got Old Time Rock and Roll and Like A Rock going against him, so it's a mixed bag. I heard he lives here in Florida now.

mountain bed
I think we should start a whole thread about classic rockers who should never get another second of air time..... LouieBThat band for me has to be Boston, first & foremost. There's many others though.
dazzler
First off Bob's a Pistons fan, so he gains points with me. Second, I'm no apologist for any "classic rock artist", but classic rock radio can ruin anyones legacy by playing the same three songs until your whole catalog is despised. Thirdlly, Bob is a Michigan/midwestern artist and if you know his history and how he cut his teeth you can respect his hard work and sticktoitness. Finally, all these "classic rock artists" should realize their day is done and enjoy retirement unless they are going to add something significant to their catalog a la Van Morrison (but even he's getting tired sounding). Finally Finally, I guess it takes a lot of ego to make gold records baby. And I'm sure having a full time yesss man will make any of us think we're makn great music. Bob looked so content watching our Detroit Pistons, and I was just commending him for resting on his laurels (and his hardys too) that the new album (as bland as it is) seems like a bigger (and blander) dissapointment. Did I mention the new album is bland and I'm dreading the thought of a tour? Dude, Foreigner, Journey, CSNY, Hair Metal extravaganza, Fogarty, .38 Special etc et al just passed through town so you're out of luck for a co-headliner. But they may have a spot at the Idian Casino after The Marshall Tucker Band. Edited September 8, 2006 by dazzler
MrRain422
Maybe he can get Grand Funk to tour with him.
mountain bed
When I think of Detroit,I think "Kick out The Jams'--MC5..that's the shit
cryptique
I heard he lives here in Florida now.Though I can't speak with authority, I doubt this. He's got season tickets to the Pistons and rarely misses a game. I suppose he might have a house down there somewhere, though.

LouieB
Probably a second home. Fuckin' snowbirds. Hey why not?? Its not like he has a fabulous late career resurgence going. I am sure he makes a bundle from his material being played on the classic rock stations, why not sit by the ocean (rather than Lake Huron.) LouieB
cryptique
Probably a second home. Fuckin' snowbirds.Meh. If he has a house in Florida, he's probably never there. The NBA season runs from November to, what, June? And who the hell wants to be in Florida during the summer?
Mr. Heartbreak
Heh heh. Just going for the cheap laugh, which is my usual forte.I'd heard Seger had some type of spread in Pasco county, which I thought was a weird choice. No big cities there. Then again, it may just be an urban legend.Actually, I'd heard his place was somewhere near the Paradise Lakes "clothing optional" Resort ... nice visual, eh? Seger at a nudist colony.By the way, I live in Florida, and you do get used to the summers, believe it or not. It's winter we can't take (Long sleeves? What a pain!)
