solace
 John Mayer. Yeah yeah this is an amazing record.oof. i just listened to the first 7 tracks of this... i'll admit, i saw John play at a really small club before he released his big record on the recommendation of a friend, and while i found his own music & lyrics to be quite poor for the most part, his guitar skills were undeniable... this one sounds better, but other than the first track (which is quite good, as much as it owes the melody to People Get Ready), it's still pretty much perfectly crafted adult contemporary. music for soccer moms. if this is what he's writing at age 28, what is he gonna do when he turns 40, or even 50? he's already surpassed Sting's solo work in terms of schmaltzy-ness a 28 year old shouldn't be writing music like this, it's just not right
