napoleon
what songs would you guys like to hear jeff play? i've always thought he would sing a great version of "in the aeroplane over the sea"
DogsPlayingPoker
Are we talking covers? I'd like to hear his version of Counting Crows' "Round Here".
skepticsightsten
i've always thought he would sing a great version of "in the aeroplane over the sea" I second that. Maybe cover some Joel Plaskett. I'd really love to hear him sing True Patriot Love.
Gobias Industries
I frankly would let him cover what he wants to cover, because they typically sound better than the originals...
mrman
what about bowie's "laughing gnome"?
LouieB
I really dig his cover of John Wesley Harding. LouieB
remphish1
Maybe he can cover Whisky Bottle?
skepticsightsten
If anyone replies with Freebird, I think you should just go to your room, sit with the lights off, and think for a good loooong while. Maybe cut a couple extremities off while you're at it.
mrman
If anyone replies with Freebird, I think you should just go to your room, sit with the lights off, and think for a good loooong while. Well said. What about Sweet Home Alabama then?
summertweedy
i really want to hear him cover (with the band) elvis costello's "(what's so funny 'bout) peace, love and understanding." i think it's a very appropriate song (a la political science) and i'd be interested to hear how jeff would interpret costello's voice...because i feel like it's impossible to not attempt to try to sound like elvis costello does when you're singing that song. but, jeff is a professional and i am not so he probably doesn't have that urge. Calexico
Costello is a good choice. Jeff covering I Want You would be nicely menacing.

I don't want to be a smart arse, but it's actually a Nick Lowe song. He recorded it in his band Brinsley Schwarz some time before Costello covered it (because Lowe was producing his album). I vote for Debris by Ronnie Lane
Iglesia
"Is there anybody out there" - Floyd = spooky = halloween

Calexico
Which one? Dylan or the Beatles or is there some other song with that title? LouieB No. The Costello track from Blood and Chocolate.
Synthesizer Patel
my mistake...thanks. That's cool. Costello's version is the famous one, and certainly the better version, but I thought I should point it out to you. Actually though, Costello only really provides the vocals as even that version is credited to 'Nick Lowe and His Sound' I think. So much info about one song!
LouieB
No. The Costello track from Blood and Chocolate.Oh right....yea..okay. Time for that title to be retired I guess. "What's so funny" is a great song and is always fun to hear. LouieB
Papillon Parade
That's easy....The Number Of The Beast.
epm
Golden Smog has played What's So Funny... with Jeff taking lead vocals. They played it a lot on the Down By the Old Mainstream tour. Jeff does the song well.

Somnambulist
I always thought the whole band should cover The Band's tune Stage Fright. Wilco's full band instrumentation would suit the song well.
