napoleon
why have we let the man go as far as he's gone?
MrRain422
I'm confused. I thought that Iraq's oil was supposed to pay for the war and that it wasn't going to cost us anything. Weird that they would have said that, and then for it to not work out that way. I totally don't get it.
Sir Stewart
Maybe it's for the best.
anodyne
some senator should propose not a single cent be sent to iraq until the VA is fully funded.
Atticus
$300 Billion may seem like a lot of money to you and me, but, well, no, that's really a shitload of money to anyone.

embiggen
let's just bankrupt the country over this ridiculous war. IMO it's a civil war and we no longer belong there. it's been going on for centuries. remember when we had a surplus of money and no Nat'l debt in this country? ahh the good ole days... napoleon
hey there george, how about instead of using this money to kill people overseas, we use it to save lives over here by feeding the hungry. isn't that what the presidents supposed to do? take care of his country? dumping money into iraq isn't taking care of america. I always thought you built up a war chest when times were flush, fought until the chest was empty, then sold war bonds, raised revenues (higher taxes, anyone?), or stopped fighting. That is a mostly useless tool, since it's simply the government owing itself money (which doesn't matter) or the government owing money to countries who owe money to us. Gobias Industries
I know Kucinich (D-OH) has introduced a bill to cut off all funding, but obviously it's not going to get anywhere. Moresover symbolic, but the point remains: Congress needs to reassert its authority over the President. Take back the war powers. Take back what the President has slowly drained from you since the 60s. It's the only way for this kind of stuff to stop. And get the public to not think Congress is a shithole. That's harder, and the media is partly to blame.
