Got off work a wee early with a little pleading at 6:15 PST to make the show at 7pm......The Empyrean Cafesits amongst the the oldest part of downtown in an 1890's era building ,hugging the BNSF highline on one end and a soup kitchen/ desitute house on the other. Exposed brick, rafters and beams.....and a wood floor that's seen better days..... For the most part , this really was a jazz oriented crowd........two local artists Danny Weber (acoustic angst ridden folk stylings) and Dan Mancke (jazz guitar w/stylistic pickin') opened things out nicely. Glenn showed some amazing chops tonight.....he was clearly appreciative of the quiet and attentive(hell , I was suprised how nice we were!!!) crowd......the space was filled out to perhaps...100 people?? The setlist.... -Anomaly Pt. 2-Where the wild things are...-(a Steven Reich piece adaptation)-Mobile Part 1 and 2-Monkey Chant for solo drum kit (complete with the cricket boxes)-Anjou (sic)-Projections of (what) might...... Glenn said he would try and bring the.....Band.....(raptorous roars of approval!!) by next time he's in town!!!!
