ATP Don't Look Back comes to Chicago!

Recommended Posts

This year we up the ante, expanding the festival to three days by opening Union Park Friday night to present the North American premiere of All Tomorrow's Parties' "Don't Look Back" series.

For the unfamiliar, ATP and Don't Look Back invite music legends to perform their seminal albums live -- in their entireties. We aren't quite ready to reveal Friday's performers, but trust us: You will not be disappointed.

And that, of course, is just the beginning. The festival continues Saturday, July 14, and Sunday, July 15-- as you know-- and we're pleased to announce the first round of artists, with many, many more to be announced soon.

Cat Power

Clipse

Of Montreal

Iron and Wine

Girl Talk

Jamie Lidell

Grizzly Bear

Professor Murder

Ken Vandermark's Powerhouse Sound

Very exciting. What album would you like to hear in its entirety?

It would be pretty awesome if Sonic Youth brought their Daydream Nation show to Chicago...

SONIC YOUTH TO PERFORM DAYDREAM NATION LIVE IN LONDON, BARCELONA AND GERMANY

Sonic Youth will perform the Daydream Nation album live on August 31 and September 1 at the Roundhouse in London as Part of the Don't Look Back series of concerts. Information and tickets here. SY have now also been confirmed to perform Daydream Nation at the Primavera Festival in Barcelona on June 2, at the Tollwood Festival in Munich June 21, and at Columbi a Halle in Berlin June 27. The 'Daydream Nation' Deluxe Edition 2xCD/4xLP is also expected in 2007. http://www.sonicyouth.com/main/index.html

New Pornos, Malkmus, De La Soul Added to P4K Fest

Also Battles and the Ponys!

Stakes is high! The Pitchfork Music Festival, taking place July 13-15 at Union Park in Chicago, is pleased to pull back the curtain on several additions to our all-star lineup: indie rock heavy hitters the New Pornographers and Stephen Malkmus, hip-hop legends De La Soul, art-rock supergroup Battles, and hometown heroes and recent Matador signings the Ponys!

All will join the company of previously announced festival performers Cat Power, Clipse, Of Montreal, Iron and Wine, Girl Talk, Jamie Lidell, Grizzly Bear, Professor Murder, Ken Vandermark's Powerhouse Sound, and, of course, Sonic Youth performing their landmark 1988 album Daydream Nation (in collaboration with All Tomorrow's Parties' Don't Look Back).

If that's looking pretty good to you so far, keep in mind, more than 40 artists will perform at this year's Pitchfork fest-- we haven't even announced half of them yet! Plus, there are still two more artists to announce who, like Sonic Youth, will be performing their classic albums as part of Friday's ATP/Don't Look Back festival kickoff.

Yoko Ono should be interesting at Pitchfork, but I am very happy Califone is in because I enjoyed their set when they hoped for Wilco on Nov 25 Chicago show. Moreover, Girl Talk and Of Montreal.

Personally I think the easiest way to get to the festival from Wrigley Field is probably to walk to Ashland (about a half mile from the ballpark -- maybe a little more) and then take the #9 Ashland bus, which will drop you off right in front of the park. I've noticed that out-of-towners tend to be more intimidated by the bus system than the train system, but I think it's worth it to save the trouble of transferring. Either way you're going to be in a mob of people when you leave the game, and then entering another mob of people when you get to the festival.
