DawgSong
Is that where "Elizabeth Reed" came from ? Liz Reed is buried in Rose Hill, as is Little Martha. Both sites are very nearDuane & Barry's resting spots. Macon is a great all-day visit if anyone is heading south on I-75.The Ga Music Hall of Fame, and the H&H Restaurant are two othermust stop places in Macon.
darkstar
yeah, back in the day the brothers liked to hang out there. I believe the photo on the back of their first album was taken in the cemetery. It's really a beautiful place to check out. Tons of really cool grave markers. Most are quite unique. Apparently there were a lot of European immigrants in Macon way back then and a lot of them were master stonemasons. They created some beautiful carvings. EDIT: fully agree with Dawg, it's a really interesting town and well worth a visit.
quarter23cd
I had to listen with no sound here at work--looks great, although I had to imagine what they were talking about. Will have to check this out later.
Analogman
Yes, I hope to go there some day. I have some issues of Hittin' The Note at home that have some really nice interviews with Kirk West and photos of the stuff in the house. I forget the year - but I do know him and his wife were still fixing the place up then. They do not live there now.
