jff
Gotcha. I'll mapquest directions. We're coming from I-75 north... so it must turn into 285. I'll think about this and try to come up with some drections for you. 75 will not turn into 285. They will intersect. Are you sure you're going to be on 75 North? From reading this site I thought you lived in Asheville, or something.
jff
OK, according to this map: http://maps.google.com/maps?tab=wl You can take I-75 to Mt. Paran Road (head North-East on Mt. Paran). Take a RIGHT onto Powers Ferry Road and the venue will be on your left. I've never driven this route, so you might want to check on the Chastain Park website and see what they recommend. http://www.classicchastain.com/pyv_location.aspx If you're coming from Roswell Road, you'll need to take West Wieuca Road to get to the venue.Make sure you take WEST Wieuca and not Wieuca. jff
I just clicked the map link I posted above and it doesn't seem to be working as I intended. Sorry about that.
Paula Deen
I've been a wilco fan for about 3 years now, and I've only seen the band once. This will be my first official road trip to see the band. Me and two friends will be coming from Mississippi. I haven't been this excited about anything in a long time. awesome, we're heading up from the Gulf Coast of Daphne, AL (near Biloxi, Mobile, Pensacola, etc.) What part of Mississippi are you driving from? awatt
Very excited! Me and the family will be in pit, 2nd row. It would be nice to meet some of you VC folks. What are the signs that identify a VCer? Head bandanna and eye patch? The truly hyper fans who look like this? Heavy drinkers? Perhaps we can meet somewhere in the venue before start?

Yes, those are the boys and they'll be going to their first rock concert (8 and 10)!! I'm sure we'll be roaming around a bit before show...

Be sure to give yourself enough time. As i've mentioned before i've always hit really bad traffic getting into chastain becasue it is back in a residential area and roads are small. Atlanta traffic is miserable, and this concert is on a weeknight.
SarahC
i'm from chattanooga about 2 and a half hours south of nashville and 2 hours north of atlanta, so we'll be going 75-south i guess... but 75 either way. i suck with directions, which is why my dad is driving. i'll be in row 6. i have a VIA CHICAGO button that i will be wearing. pourout
Nashville, TN will be properly represented in pit row 11, left side I think. Remnants of last years Ryman show are still dancing in my head, so I'm eager to see the boys again. A buddy of mine and I are driving down that afternoon. Can anyone suggest a good place in the area to hang out and have some brews before the show?
rhinomagic
Tallahassee, FL here. We'll be bringing the sunshine in Row 6 on the right side of the Pit. My wife is a short, red-haired lady; can't miss her. Does anyone know about parking/tailgating @ Chastain. This is the first time we've been to this venue... It's almost Tuesday! I'm staying at the holiday inn express in Smyrna. If anyone is familiar with the area what time do you think I should leave to get to the show on time?
awatt
Just be prepared for traffic. Leave early to get to the show. I'm generally the over-anxious type, but they are calling for thunderstorms Tuesday night...

caseyb98
I had already gotten 2 tickets for me and a friend, but I called in to an Atlanta radio station and won their "circle of friends" promotion. I get to enter the venue early and watch Wilco's soundcheck and go backstage before the show! I am ecstatic to say the least!!! My recommendation for before the show is Felini's pizza. It is kid friendly and has outstanding pizza and good beer. It is also located about 5 minutes from Chastain, and I have a feeling that the majority of people that will be eating there prior to the show will be Wilco fans. There is also a really nice park on Lake Forest Drive (about 5 min away also) that I may hang out at beforehand with a 12 pack and a football/frisbee. Tuesday night cannot come soon enough! Hope everyone enjoys the show...
ms. yvon
i'll be there! got our tix late, so they aren't too close. not sure where they are. if we're there ontime, maybe a preshow bit o' grub is the way to go!

Hope everyone enjoys the show... You lucky dog! I even tried to win them from way down here in Gulf Coast, AL...we called randomly a couple of times. hhaha. just to see. Anyway, that's awesome. I remember Felini's quite well from my many ATL trips pre-kids. I had forgot about them. Thanks for the suggestion. That may be where we head after all. I'm just having nightmares about the parking situation. I think I'm paranoid. Our car got broken into at the Fox when we drove up for AGIB tour a couple of years ago...but I understand that this is in a much better area and that it might not happen again. Parenthood makes you neurotic, I'm certain. yeah, and it BETTER not rain.but if it does, will we all just stand there and get wet? is that how it works at the chastain? jff
yeah, and it BETTER not rain.but if it does, will we all just stand there and get wet? is that how it works at the chastain? Depends. It POURED rain at a Neil Young concert during Lucinda William' opening set. Everyone ran over to the sides where there is a bit of a covered area. The rain stopped after only a short while. On another occaision, I saw Traffic play there. It rained heavily and steadily the entire time and everyone just stayed put and accepted the fact that they were going to be soaked. That was one of the best concerts I've ever seen. At the Traffic concert, just about everyone had umbrellas (but still got pretty soaked). I'm not sure if they still allow people to bring in umbrellas, but it'd be worth checking. Chances are, IF it rains, it'll only rain for 10 or 15 minutes and will pass, leaving behind either: 1) wonderfully refreshing cool breezes, or 2) stifling humidity and nasty/sticky mugginess. That is how it works. Many people will run for the small areas with a roof on them. I will stand in a little pancho and yell for them to do a cover of neil young's "see the sky about to rain" I looked at weather.com and it looks pretty nasty from about 5pm to midnight. hopefully they are wrong. Traffic will be extra bad with the rain too
