caliber66
It would probably be a nice throwback to the 60's/70's but still sounding pretty Dead-ish. Meh.
Basil II
The best version of that song was by the garage band ,"The Sonics"....from Seattle. -Robert.
Lammycat
I kind of favor the original Noah Lewis version with Cannon's Jug Stompers. What's going on here, anyway?
mfwahl
I kind of favor the original Noah Lewis version with Cannon's Jug Stompers. What's going on here, anyway?that's a pretty esoteric bit of fandom
mountain bed
Imo this tune really came into its own when Brent joined the band. The Hammond really beefed it up.
caliber66
What's going on here, anyway? It's what I think every time I see the "New New Pornographers" thread. Nothing (really) to see here, but if anyone was born in the desert or raised in a lion's den, please feel free to share your experiences here.
mountain bed
Oh. Thank cod the New Yardbirds decided to call themselves Led Zeppelin instead. I wasn't born in the desert, etc., but the doctor did call me crazy once!
Analogman
I actually like hearing young Bob sing this on the first dead album.
Lammycat
Imo this tune really came into its own when Brent joined the band. The Hammond really beefed it up.I agree. Brent brought a lot of new life to a lot of tunes when he joined. In the live setting "Minglewood" was often a highlight of the show for me just because of the interaction sometimes shown between Garcia and Brent. Garcia would turn his back to the rest of the band and square up to face Brent during Brent's solo part and they'd both be just utterly beaming at each other, seemingly tuning everyone and everything around them out. Good times.
