YHF was the album that . . .

Recommended Posts

Took about 3 months to understand...changed the way music is promoted on the net...includes some of the most innovative drumming in pop music...an album Wilco made before they sold out.

Made me recognize the genius of Jeff Tweedy moreso

And can we please not throw around the word "genuis"? Please?!

no we will use it in reference to jeff

But I asked nicely! :ohwell

I am only half-kidding though. It does bother me a little when I hear the word genius attached to the names of musicians. In reality, there have been a small number of true musical geniuses in the last 60 years of popular music, but the label gets attached to so many that it has lost its meaning. It would be an interesting thread, but I'm too lazy to start one...

...if I only had to take one album to a deserted island with me, would probably be it. Anytime I need to hear music it's what I always reach for. It's just one those perfect albums in my opinion. I've probably listened to it more than anything else in the last five years, the only other records I can think that can touch it in terms of listens are A Ghost is Born and In The Aeroplane Over The Sea. The best records for me can completely emerge me in their world and become emerged in mine as well, if that makes any sense. It's always done that for me.

reminds me (in hindsight) how indispensible Jay Bennett was to Wilco........

-Robert.

Missed this in the first read through, but wanted to echo Robert's comments. Bennett is as just as instrumental to this album's brilliance as he was with Summerteeth... (http://www.gloriousnoise.com/?pg=bennettyhf.php) Adding Kotche and O'Rourke to the mix really pushed things to another level, sadly it ended up not being a workable arrangement for all parties, but we got a hell of a record out of the deal.
