Synthesizer Patel
i was just feeding the pigs and i found that they were rolling around in the mud with the new fiery furnaces album. just thought i'd let people know; maybe a discussion could arise . . .
boywiththorninside
So far, so good. I need to listen to it more though. It sounds like a Fiery Furnaces record. Crazy song structures. You get two or three songs in one.
augurus
Ba da ba ba ba, I'm lovin' it.
m_thomp
Most of what I've heard I like so far, although the whole thing would work a lot better if they dumped a couple of the tracks that border on insufferable. I can't name names at present.
Synthesizer Patel
I'm really enjoying listening to it. I can't actually believe it's leeked, as it's not out until October, so I'm not sure how I'll actually feel by the time it comes out properly. Navy Nurse really stands out as a great song to me right now, along with The Philadelphia Grand Jury, Cabaret Of The Seven Devils (which is like something off of Rehearsing My Choir), and My Egyptian Grammar. At times I do find myself thinking I wished they could use real strings, though; and lose some of those silly drum sounds, at times.
m_thomp
Excuse my flakiness on tracklistings - I listen to too much stuff in the car - but there is one track (something to do with Cairo) that sounds remarkably similar to another one of theirs. In danger of repeating themselves there. I would be more specific if I could, but I can't, so I won't.
Welsh Rich
Duplexes of the Dead fucking rules!
boywiththorninside
Ex-Guru! It has a nice little groove, and I like hearing Eleanor sing "she means nothing to me now, I tell myself that everyday." Simple lyrics, but they carry weight when sung by her.
Welsh Rich
Whilst I'm enjoying this album, it's a bit of a mess in places, I find them an easy band to admire but a hard one to love...
HighFives
I just saw them open for yo la tengo on Thursday. It was okay. They knew what they were doing but I wasn't down with their style of music so I went and got some pizza and a snow cone.
stooka
Navy Nurse disjointed and unsettling at times, but when I find a song of their's I like, it's infectious!
augurus
I'll have to concur, Duplexes Of The Dead is pretty awesome, as is Ex-Guru. By the way, for future reference, don't turn volume up on Clear Signal From Cairo. The entire album sounds very good.
Chendizzle
This is sitting on my hard drive just waiting... I only enjoyed 4 tracks from Bitter Tea, and RMC was a train wreck so I'm wary of jumping back into a FF album. What's this sound like?
stooka
disjointed and unsettling at times, but when I find a song of their's I like, it's infectious! Holy Crap! I just heard My Egytian Grammar. Might I suggest gazing into the eyes of Eleanor whilst listening to it!
