brettac1
Okay, I'm going to the Duluth show on the 14th, which is general admission, as I'm sure most know. I live in central Wisconsin, and according to Google Maps, the drive to Bayfront Festival Park is 4 hours and 50 minutes. I am going to meet up with my friend, who actually bought 12 tickets. But he lives in St. Paul and said he's possibly going to get there at 9:00 AM (it is a 7:30 show). Now, say I was to get there at 2:00 PM or maybe a little earlier, would it be alright if he set up lawn chairs for myself and the person that I'm going to the show with, so I could sit by them? Or would this be frowned upon, thus making me look like a major dick? I really want to be near the front (who doesn't, I understand) but I also really don't feel like getting up at 4 AM to drive out there, and then drive back home that night as I plan to do and get home at 4 AM or (likely later). Any guidance would be appreciated (and does anyone know if you can smoke at that place?). Thanks.

brettac1
A: Train A will arrive in 4 hours and 20 minutes, beating Train B by an hour and a half. Right answer! So, this shouldn't be an issue? Does Edie speak for everyone?
Atticus
I wouldn't have a problem with it, but then again I remember some douchebag turning his back to the band the whole night over a general admission issue. My point being that in every crowd there's going to be someone who thinks he/she is the "diehard" fan and that the rest of us are unworthy intruders, regardless of circumstance. If you showed up 5 minutes before the doors opened I think it would be a wholly different issue. And I have consistently found Edie's to be a voice of reason, even when contradicting myself, in answer to your other question.
brettac1
Yeah, I'm definitely not going to show up five minutes before the doors open. More likely it will be 5 hours before the show.
Edie
I held a place for my friend Sara at a STL show RIGHT IN FRONT and I explained to people around me that I was doing this. Her flight was delayed and she arrived about 2 minutes before the opener started. No one had a problem with it. 5 hours before the show is not even close. 99% of the crowd likely won't be there yet. Don't sweat it.
virtualreason
And being in that 1% is going to be fun! I'll bring the cards and chips, you all bring fat bank rolls

Just tell your pal to let the folks around him know that a couple people will be arriving soon.

quarter23cd
I don't think I have ever been 5 hours early for anything in my life.
MrRain422
Might want to make sure that the venue allows you to bring in lawn chairs. A lot don't.
Nonlinear Nonfiction
I don't mind, but would you be willing to put a chair out for me?
