Beltmann
Madison on Sep. 11, Milwaukee on Oct. 9... sounds like it's going to be a good Wilco month for me. (And in between, 11 days of the Milwaukee International Film Festival!)

Edie
What's the venue like in Mil? Is it seated or GA? I looked at the Web site but couldn't tell.....
OOO
Last time i saw them there it was GA...its just a big open ballroom with a stage. There is an upper level that might have seats, but i didnt check it out last time.

There's plenty of standing room up there, though. Frankly, the Eagles Ballroom is not the greatest venue. Its best virtue is that it's, um, large.

Horrible security, overpriced tickets, poor access to water and bathrooms, oppressive heat, no air circulation..., the place sucks. The last time Wilco played there, there had to be about 100 VCers there and a good half dozen were sick from the heat while being inside at an evening show when daytime temps had been normal. There's no excuse why we all felt like we'd stumbled into a Turkish bath. I can't stress how shitty I think the place is but that's just my opinion. I'm fragile. I'm the Princess and the fucking Pea. Edie
I think I'll skip it then.... I'm seeing them 3 times in September and it'll be hard to justify a 90 minute ride home on a Tuesday night. Plus, I'm traveling like 4 times in the next 6 weeks on business -- so far.
solace
an FYI about the Mpls show Spoon play their first of 2 nights at First Ave this night as well, you could probably pull off the double header. I'll be doing Wilco + Dr. Dog @ 400 Bar and then next night Spoon (early AA) + Sea Wolf @ Entry

imsjry
You forgot to mention that the sound sucks.... By far the WORST venue I've ever been to. It makes the Aragon in Chicago seem like the Royal Albert Hall!!
Smokestack Joe
wow, i cant believe they booked at the eagles ballroom after jeff played at the pabst theatre. i thought for sure wilco would play at pabst after he performed solo and Autumn Defense performed there. im happy to have them in my town but shit the Eagles....
virtualreason
OK, here's the plan: only VCers buy tickets, that way, they'll move the venue to a smaller place (ie the Pabst). I think that's the best case scenario.

virtualreason
^^ The Riverside only holds like 2500. I think that's on the lower rung of Wilco venues, especially in a city where there's a "good" 3000-5000 capacity venue in the Rave.
Smokestack Joe
woah hold on, the Rave holds 3000-5000 people? i havent been there in a while but i never thought it held that many
virtualreason
"Five Venues under one roof. Eagles Ballroom has a capacity of around 4000, the Rave can hold 1500, The underground holds 500, and the Vibe and bar hold 400 each." So, "The Rave" holds 1500, and "The Eagles Ballroom" holds 4000. And, as an aside, I got my tickets this morning
Smokestack Joe
you got tickets from the wilcoworld.net website this morning?
