a.miller
PBS Page. As a person who finds great interest in history, I look forward to watching this.
gogo
As a person who has only minimal interest in baseball or jazz, but enjoyed Ken Burns' take on both of those, I'm also looking forward to it. I can't keep up with the schedule, though. After the initial showing here, they're going to do them on a once-a-week basis, so I'm probably going to do it that way. Analogman
That's right - cannon fire will now be replaced by machine gun fire. This was the last good war - so we all have to tune in and watch Ken do his magic!
Good Old Neon
I've been looking forward to this for months now. And, based on the previews, I'm gonna cry meself a river. World War 2 Vets remembrances always make me go all blubbery and stuff....sniff...sniff.

bjorn_skurj
I find the Burnsian style a bit precious at times, but I will watch this.
Mrs. Peel
Waterbury CT, where I live, is one of the four towns featured. Due to a *%$ migraine I gave up my ticket to the premiere and Al and his mom went instead. Ken Burns was there to do a lengthy Q&A and then he showed excerpts from the movie. He spent long amounts of time in town over the last several years.
Preferred B
I'm an American history geek, so I can't wait for this. However, there's no chance I'll ever be able to catch this for a couple of hours every night for ... however long. It may be Netflix for me.
tugmoose
Burns tends a bit toward the White Hat-Black Hat, victim-villain narrative. The history is good, but realize that he's very, very manipulative.

embiggen
I am actually enjoying this. I think it's put together very well and conveys the story clearly. it's harsh, that's for sure.

jimtweedy1977
Barnes & Noble had the book for 30 clams, down 20 from its original price. Couldn't resist picking it up for that price. I'm also recording it to DVDR.

nettles
Though I am enjoying this, and it's interesting to see how America was affected state side, I was thinking last night they could have covered that in one episode or something, or maybe a companion documentary or something. I se know it's meant to be the american experience of the war, I guess I was expecting it to be a more overall look at the whole war, including more about all the countries experiences, and more inside the Axis. Also, it kind of blew right thru the battle for North Africa. Anyway, I'll keep watching but it doens't seemed to be grabbng me as did the Civil War and Baseball. Mrs. Peel
Well the whole documentary is based on 4 American cities, not an overall look at how the entire US was affected, let alone other countries.
Analogman
I guess the deal is each one represents a section of the country - but I am sure people feel left out.
a.miller
I really like the show so far. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to watch last night. Kinda hard to knock out 2 - 2.5 hours of TV every night (at least for me).
