MrRain422
I actually remember reading an article about the Rockies going after Christian players earlier this season (or maybe it was even in the offseason) but had forgotten all about it.

Lammycat
Stop throwing shit on the field. I'm up too late already for there to be any delays.Sounds like some of the heathens throwing shit have been arrested. Good times. Good call on the interference, too.
PigSooie
2nd base was not kind to the D'Backs tonight.
bjorn_skurj
Kind of a bush play for that dude to go for a double in the 9th when you're team is down by four runs. If you do that, you had better be safe.
PigSooie
Zero extra base hits for the Rockies tongiht? I didn't even notice. Nice.
Mystik Spiral
Zero extra base hits for the Rockies tongiht? I didn't even notice.Yeah, we didn't notice either 'til the announcers informed us. I have to say that this is a pretty f'ing sweet start to the series. And what an apropos way for the game to end, in light of how the whole game went for Arizona. Dude, grab the base. That's what it's there for... Good call on the interference, too. TBS is still calling it a controversial play, even though they said that if he hadn't stuck his arm up and rolled over Matsui he would've been fine...
Mystik Spiral
If I'm the Rockies I'm getting really tired of reporters asking about "the streak". 16 of 17, 17 of 18, 18 of 19... how much are the explanations going to change??? Also, it was great to see Willy Taveras do some damage with all the talk that Hurdle was making a mistake putting him back in the lineup... That is all.
cryptique
Batting for Jesus - The RockiesSo ... how is the Rockies' stance not discriminatory? Under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, employers (even private ones) cannot discriminate on the basis of religion. Based on what I read in this article, it sounds to me like the Rockies are in violation of the law.

Talk it up, I say. I've heard/read rumblings because they're tinkering with the line-up during this streak, though. Anybody critisizing Hurdle for putting a healthy Taveras back in center in the stead of Spilborghs is nuts. He's much better defensively, has the edge at the plate, and is speed on the bases. Plus, they dropped Aaron Cook to make room as Cook is still not6 100%. Good move.

Oh I know, and I agree. I'm just sayin' that the Rockies seem to be getting a little tired of repeating that they don't really want to think about what's happened, why/how they've been on such a tear, they don't want to look back, they just want to look to the next game... that's all. Based on what I read in this article, it sounds to me like the Rockies are in violation of the law. I'm not certain, but I would imagine it has something to do with the nature of sports - players are recruited, they don't apply for the job. I would think that teams could go out and recruit who they want. Now, if they refrain from hiring someone or fire someone based on religion that would be illegal, but I have to believe that there are some non-Christians on the team. I don't have a religious bone in my body, and I kind of wish the Rockies had KEPT those recruiting practices a secret. Based on cryptique's point they probably should have... bjorn_skurj
Come to think of it, another reason the Mets didn't win another World Series in the '80s might have been due to the presence of second baseman Tim Teufel. In German, Teufel means "devil."
