Uncle Tupelo Reunion

Recommended Posts

How much would you pay for a ticket??? How many people would go???

How sweet would it be to hear Jeff Tweedy and Jay Farrar harmonize on all those rocking tunes??!!!!

I would sacrifice a kidney or a ball if I could be assured of the first three rows. I just cant imagine what it would be like to hear them rip into those songs!

Peace in the Midwest (Tweedy and Farrar)

fill up your mind with all it can know

don't forget that your body will let it all go

fill up your mind with all it can know

cause what would be without wishful thinking?

a chamber of chains with red plastic mouths

the inside of outside no one has found

how to unring the bell, it's just as well

the turntable sizzles casting the spells

the pressure devices, hell in a nutshell

is any song worth singing that doesn't help?

fill up your mind with all it can know

don't forget that your body will let it all go

fill up your mind with all it can know

cause what would love be without wishful thinking?

open your arms as far as they will go

take off your dress an embarrassing poem

was written when i was alone in love with you

i shook down those lines to shine up the streets

i got up off my hands and knees

to thank my luck stars that you're not me

what would we be without wishful thinking?

what would we be without wishful thinking?

oh, what would we be without wishful thinking?

I think they are both better off and happier with their own gigs, but I would definitely go see it.

But tweedy said he cannot play bass fast enough anymore.

they can do a side tour and John can play bass.

Tweedy has three other bands with every other jag on the planet. He needs to make peace and rip those sounds one more time. No need to wait until they are old as dirt. Just get it over with.

Its not right to hold out on something so powerful.

Everytime I think about all of the times UT played within an hour of my house I want to stick my head in the oven. Never caught 'em - I was living in a very Jerry- perceived universe at the time.*

* notice I said "at the time" :stunned

While I don't really agree with this, I would definitely see a re-united Uncle Tupelo.

I think I would definitely rather see a Loose Fur show, and/or to have traveled back in time to one of those Summerteeth-YHF era shows. That would be interesting.

I'd pay decent money for a ticket, but for all the good UT material there is I just find myself more drawn to Jeff Tweedy related work post-Tupelo

hmmmm . . . . not likely to happen.

i might go if it was free . . . and really close to my house . . . and i had nothing better to do that night . . .

but you'd have to pay me to go see son volt again. YAWN!!!!!

personally, i'd rather go see wilco, golden smog, loose fur, or any number of unknown local bands.

i like jeff's songwriting but jay's stuff doesn't really interest me. i like some of the tupelo stuff, but prefer jeff's songs in the tupelo collection. i find jay's voice annoying and whiny. his songs all sound exactly the same to my ear.

basically, i'm interested in where wilco is going in the future cause i think wilco (and all jeff's projects) just keep getting better and more interesting.

i would pay $50

i would pay $100 to see wilco with jay bennett

hmmmm . . . interesting.

personally, i think the current wilco line up is great and i wouldn't change it. it seems to work for where they are now musically. they're producing great stuff and the musicianship is just amazing.

i would probably pay more to see the current wilco line up than i would for wilco with bennett.

unless bennett was an addition, and not replacing any of the current members. for that . . . i'd pay the same as i would for the current wilco line up.

I liked their last 2 albums, but their live show that I saw about 2 years ago didn't really excite me too much.

gotta admit, i'm going mostly off the early son volt and what i saw live last year. the early stuff didn't grab me and the live show really turned me off so i didn't want to listen to the more recent stuff. maybe i'll give the most recent albums a listen.

From what I've, it's not Jeff that has a problem with reuniting. Apparently Jay hasn't talked to him in over a decade, and Jeff, rightfully has stopped trying to reach out.

But there's this, too:

We were waiting at a red light' date=' and I asked him if there would ever be an Uncle Tupelo reunion. Surprisingly (and without much hesitation), he said maybe. This shocked me, because Tweedy hasn't really spoken with Jay Farrar in something like 10 years. This being the case, I asked him what would be the biggest hurdle in making this reunion a reality. He said something I had never anticipated: "I don't know if I could play those songs anymore," Tweedy said. "The bass parts on some of those songs are really fast. I don't think I can play bass that fast anymore." This, obviously, is crazy; this is like saying you're considering reuniting with your estranged wife after a 10-year separation, but you're really nervous that she might have rearranged the living room furniture. Yet--somehow--this sentiment struck me as remarkably insightful; it was the kind of highly important detail that normal people never consider when they expect artists to satisfy their dreams unconditionally. So this was the second thing I realized about Jeff Tweedy: Musically, he notices what is not so obvious.[/quote']
