RaspberryJam
My husband and I just made our arrangements! No problems getting tickets for wednesday, still looking for Thursday. Truly our year for Wilco. Northampton, Burlington, Berkeley and now Dublin. Is anyone here going? Would love to meet up for a pint (or 2!) before the show(s)!

DickDarlington
I shall be there for both Nights but currently i'm workin right up till I go so I dunno about meeting up at this point, but i'l let you know. I have a ticketmaster contact so i'l prob know straight away if Thursday goes back onsale (it has once or twice already). If it does i'l post here but def well worth your while to check ticketmaster.ie at random intervals, there'l also be touts at the venue, fortunatley/unfortunatley there always are in Ireland. Does anybody know who's supporting yet ?
RaspberryJam
Actually, I got tickets for thursday a few weeks ago went I went on ticketmaster on a lark. I'm confused about the venue, though. for Wednesday I have "standing" tickets. Does that mean floor? And if so, does that mean they take away the tables? For Thursday I have balcony tickets. Does that mean there are seats up there? I really prefer to be on the floor though, so I hope i can trade with someone, or are they liberal about that since the floor is standing anyway? Where is a good place to go before nearby for a bite and a beer? Is anything open late if we want to eat after? Sorry Dick, I don't mean to use you as a travel agent! I'll be there with my wife who doesn't know much about Wilco - will try to persuade her to come to both nights, if not it'll be the last night. I hope there'll be plenty of difference in the setlists for the two nights. I suspect Jeff will do his 'who was here last night?' routine on night two, and if he gets a big cheer the set will change accordingly. I love spontaneity! He did it at Shepherds Bush in May and when it became apparent that most of the audience had NOT been at both nights he keptb the setlist fairly similar for the second night. Lets have some surprises and a cameo from some Irish guests! U and 2 would be nice for the occasion.
gav
I'm heading down to Dublin from Belfast for the Wednesday show. I only got into Wilco this year and this will be the first time I've ever seen them. Really, really, really looking forward to it. Anyone know when the band will be on stage? Yeah in Vicar St there normally aren't tables on the ground floor which is cool, and yes the seated tickets are the balcony. Wednesday i'm standing and Thursday I'm seated in balcony at very left of the stage so through both nights i'l get a good overall view. But there's no bad views in this place since it's so small. Its amazing Wilco are lpaying a venue like thisIf you have seated tickets theres very little chance of getting downstairs but you never know. I'd advise eating before the gig, afterwards there's only chippers open at that time in the middle of the week.As food goes it depends what you're looking for, Wagamamma at St Stephens Green is cool, but Vicar St isnt far from town centre so theres plenty not too far from the venue. Theres tons of pubs on the way, Brogans beside the Olympia on Dame St(which Wilco played before) is on the way and it's pretty relaxed old man sorta place, no food though. If Bono turned up i'd walk out, contrary to popular belief most Irish people dont love U2, at least I def dont anyway. The bar in Vicar St itself ain't bad either, not amazing, but not bad. Still no word on support? Who supported in Brussels and Barcelona tonight ? Local bands ?
themanwholovesyou
Yep - I'll be there both nights. Standing Wednesday, seat on Thursday. Driving down from north for both, so I'll be needing a seat on Thursday for sure... :-)
RaspberryJam
Thanks for the info! I'm lukewarm on U2, but I'd stick around if they showed up. Not because I think they're so great, but because I get so starstruck. I once saw John Travolta in Boston and walked around beaming for a week. This was right after Pulp Fiction too! Is there always an opener at Vicar Street shows? I'm sorry to say the 2 openers I've seen for Wilco this year have underwhelmed me. So I hope it is someone great. Yeah usually openers at most gigs, if they brought somebody with them then great, they might be worth seeing but if not then it'l be left to the promoter and god knows who it'l be or if they're any good. Bands usually take the stage at 9 in Ireland so presume Wilco will be the same, although if theres no support they might be on earlier, but I doubt it.
gav
I'm heading to the gig on my own as none of my mates or my girlfriend like Wilco so I wanna head straight in to see them and avoid any support. If they play a setlist like the one listed from last week's gig then I'll be in heaven, though I'd love to hear At Least That's What You Said and Hell is Chrome. Pot Kettle Black and Kamera would be awesome. But I need Misunderstood for my girlfriend who i'm dragging along, as it's her favourite song. But generally the setlists lately are great as they're mixing in old songs and a few suprises.
gav
Yes, Misunderstood would be great. And Ashes of American Flags. And Company in my Back. And Shot in the Arm. The list goes on...
Bubs101
I will standing there both nights. First with my mates who I got into Wilco specifically for this (although one of them has still never heard one tune) and on the second night with my sister for her eighteenth (She either gets a pressie that I approve of or nothing at all). Might be able to get backstage as it turns out I am friends with a guy who's parents own the place. Small chance Jeff might mention me cos I got "hospital" sick front and centre at a wilco gig on my birthday this summer (I know I'm probably sounding like an ass but It's one of the things that I'll regret forever)in Turin during my 2 month stay. The supposed high point turned out to be the low point of a great holiday . Might make the meet up with my sister on thursday but doubt it on Wednesday. One question, how do you get into soundchecks there? I'm off college at 10 A.M. on wednesday so I would love to catch a bit off Hotel Arizona at a soundcheck R.E. requests. First night "easy rockers" to appease my friends so Casino Queen, I'm Always in Love, Got You and Kidsmoke.Second night. Not for the season, poor places, Summerteeth Why would you wanna live and How to fight loneliness for my sister
RaspberryJam
The fact that I'm flying overseas to see a band that I've already seen 3 times this summer is a testament to how they are playing this year. I'm not concerned about the set list either night AT ALL because every song I've heard this year has been AWESOME! That said, if they play a mellow set the first night (When I am standing), then a rocking set the next (when I have seats), I'll feel like I did everything backward. You folks who haven't seen them play recently (or at all!) are in for a real treat!
coast to coast
going to both. oh yeah. that impossible germany acl video got me in the mood.
gav
Last time I was at Vicar Street was in 2000 for the mighty Cathal Coughlan, and while the gig was sublime the venue was bloody freezing, so I'm gonna wrap up warm for this one!
samuel70
... the venue was bloody freezing, so I'm gonna wrap up warm for this one! Haha ! I saw Jeff solo a year ago at Vicar St and indeed it was pretty cold inside. However, Jeff's voice and a few beers helped warming up Samuel
50footqueenie
The missus and I are coming over early Wednesday morning from Scotland for both shows, then we are being joined by three friends from Edinburgh and Aberdeen for the Thursday show. Staying nearby so we hope for a close encounter during the day! This will be the 5th and 6th times we've seen them this year - they are simply stunning in concert and the huge back catalogue makes it a real adventure to see what they are going to play. We saw them over three nights in Paris, Ghent and Amsterdam back in May and although the core sets were similar there were surprises every night. I don't care what they play really, but would love to hear Company in my Back and Hell is Chrome as I've not heard them live so far. And of course a chance to get some good quality real Guinness... Slainte!

Slainte! You Lucky Ducks! It would be so nice to fly/sail over to Ireland and have a few nights in wonderful Dublin and twice as good to see Wilco over there. I live in Melbourne but come from Carlisle and if I was still there I would be doing the same as you. Hope you have a wonderful time x
hillyfaekillie
After seeing Wilco at Shepard's Bush in May the wife and i wouldn't miss this for the world. It doesn't matter what they play it will be all good. Staying in jury's just up the road so will be there plenty early to soak in the atmosphere and have a few jars.
