forget you guys - I looooove Imo's Pizza and it is a staple of every return trip to St. Louis.

 

When you want pizza, you get something else......when you want Imo's, you get Imo's

 

Spoken like a true St. Louisan.

 

I think that's my problem. I came to St. Louis as an adult, so my palette and gullet haven't had the opportunity to grow accustomed to Imo's. Yeah. That's the problem.

 

When you're in Belleville, I'm taking you to Fletcher's for a veggie pie. You'll die of joy.

I feel personally slighted when people rag on Imo's......I have no idea why, but it makes me really sad.

How about this? Frozen custard, toasted ravioli, and gooey butter cake are just about the most awesome things in the world. Seriously!

 

Considering that the food item my hometown is best known for is a hamburger smeared with peanut butter, I understand feeling slighted when outsiders rag on the weird local chow. Even when it's merited.

I don't care about Chicago v New york pizza, as I have not eaten pizza in either city

Oh, but these are two of the great pizza archetypes. I am sure you have had pizza in this style--it's not so much about location.

I think the only pizza that I think is disgusting is Chuck E Cheese where they seem to forget to take the pizza off of the cardboard before they cook it.

 

Hell, I even like those totino's party pizzas - $1.50

Give me a St. Louis-style cracker crust from someone who's making pizzas by hand, and I'm a happy girl.

 

I drive to St. Louis at least once/year to get a pizza from Joe Boccardi's.

Giordano's is what I miss most about living in Joke Park. What a spoiled, luxurious childhood to have that be the pizza we would order out for. Stuffed spinach, 100% of the time once I tried it. I ship my parents a stuffed spinach for their anniversary and a green pepper, onion, mushroom for Father's Day every year.

for the record, the thing that threw me about the Imo's...i could handle the crust and i could handle the cheese...but the sauce reminded me of ketchup.

 

but I think kate hit the nail on the head, if i didn't consider it pizza...it wasn't that bad.
