Wilco Worshipper
Since I haven't decided who to back yet, due to my political UNsavviness...a friend of mine suggested this guy. I see one thing in his platform that I definitely don't approve of, but other than that, not so bad. Unless of course, I'm missing something... I'm told he would run independent but since they usually get a bad rap...yadda, yadda, yadda So I'm curious as to what the great minds of teh VC think...

MrRain422
He's the most sane one running for either party when it comes to foreign policy. He's also one of the crazier ones when it comes to domestic policy. I respect him, and I'm glad he's speaking the truth about Iraq, but I would never vote for him. boywiththorninside
There was an earlier thread devoted to this, which would seem to be a good sign for him. People are taking notice. Anyway, for more thoughts and opinions... Ron Paul Thread

cryptique
Paul has taken a few principled positions on the big issues and that's why he's getting some attention from voters who don't much like anyone else in the race. Unless you're a staunch social conservative, however, he is not someone you'll want to vote for. (My opinion, naturally, but his positions on the issues bear me out.) I'm not making any judgment about his position, but I imagine this might have influenced his thinking on that issue.

Yeah, there will never be a candidate that I agree with completely, but I disagree with almost every aspect of Ron Paul's ideas for domestic policy. Can't really overlook that. owl
I think that people like him because he's a straight-talker, but many of his "supporters" also don't actually know what he stands for. I would like to see him run in the election, if only because he might have a chance of getting the % needed to form a third party.

bjorn_skurj
I am tempted by Libertarianism, but always come to the conclusion that it would end up creating more problems than it solved, leading to sort of a Road Warrior type of society where people lived in fortresses made of old buses and were constantly harassed by roving gangs of mutants dressed in leather underwear and riding dune buggies. Plus I have religious objections. So, Paul won't be getting my vote.

TheMaker
Libertarianism creeps the entire fuck clean out of me. Science has proven that it's the creepiest political philosophy, and plenty of evidence exists that indicates it could be the creepiest thing, period, this side of the ghost of Ayn Rand. The only thing I don't find creepy about it is its ambivalence towards American-style Christianity.
