hardinggr
SFA are great yes, met them backstage at Brixton a few years back - top blokes. As it happens even without Wilco first week in Nov is a good one for gigs in London. SFA at The Roundhouse, and that Shins gig at Hammersmith (Nov 7th) clashes with The National at Shepherds Bush Empire which is about a mile up the road! Tough choice to make but National win out this time round as the excellent St Vincent (Annie Clark ex Polyphonic Spree) is supporting - I've also seen The Shins several times before including earlier this year in London. When all's said and done we are spoiled for gigs here, anyone going to Band Of Horses at the tiny Bush Hall (also in Shepherds Bush) end of Nov? BTW, I'm going to Dublin and you don't have to fly from Gatwick to get there reasonably cheaply. My FlyBmi flight from Heathrow cost 46 quid return including taxes though I think if you book today its more like 70 quid. Not bad though, and if you do both Wilco gigs. See all u Brits there! ps Wilco should make up for the UK no-show with some intimate gigs next time round. Borderline anyone? Bush Hall? There's also a great little place just off Leicester Square slap bang in the West End called the London Arts Theatre - saw Cherry Ghost there in May. How about Wilco at the Point in Cardiff? A very intimate max 250 capacity venue. Saw the Hold Steady there earlier this year and they ROCKED!!
iiii
Got an ironic email from nonesuch today... "To coincide with its forthcoming tour of Europe, Wilco will release a special limited edition of its latest acclaimed album Sky Blue Sky on November 12. The new edition features previously unreleased material from the original album sessions, including the new single 'The Thanks I Get', which is available now." ps I too was at the Fleadh when the fannies and neil young played - we must have all been in the same queue for the signing! I wish i could make it to dublin, but got tickets for other gigs on both nights!

Welsh Rich
I was a student at Cardiff and all these venues have arrived since I've left - there was only two when I was there. I've heard that The Point is good - you checking out the Swn festival in 2 weeks? Beirut are playing...
dexterismyhero
this to dexterismyhero, ok i understand that your circumstances are different to mine and my heart goes out to you probably more than anyone else . i didnt mean to gloat. for the record im taking two days without pay and to be honest i dont really care. and no im not in an extremely well paid job. i just couldnt pass it up. some things are more important. you know theyll be back at some stage. and they always play somewhere up north. they have played theyre fair share of gigs in the UK this year. Thanks leev. I hope you enjoy Dublin - and I mean that in total sincerity I've shed my disappointment, it's time to move on and accept we'll probably never know the real reason the tour was canceled. Yes I was crushingly disappointed but there's bigger things in life to fret about and Wilco are just a band after all. One things for sure though - I won't be purchasing the special tour edition of SBS :pirate

Heard the name Beirut but not seen them. Worth checking out? Iron & Wine are at the Point tomorrow. I would like to see them but after going out the last 5 nights I don't think my body can handle it!!
Welsh Rich
Definitely catch Beirut - fantastic band... some footage here: http://www.blogotheque.net/article.php3?id_article=3455 I was hoping to cover the Swn festival for The Line of Best Fit, but unfortunately I've not been able to get the weekend of real work, which sucks. doctorwu
You'll love the Furries, I saw them on Monday for the zillionth time. Bunford used to be my art teacher in school! I am also gutted about the Wilco show. They better play twice as long next time! Thanks! , I'm really looking forward to seeing the furries, i hope it makes up for the wilco affair. Believe it or not but Beirut are playing the Point! Supported by Cate Le Bon (up and coming Welsh Female Acoustic Artist) and Rich James (ex-Gorkys). Might have to drag myself down there methinks! tweedmouth
Well, the blues are really starting to kick in now. I should be having a few pre gig drinks before the gig in Birmingham tonight. Surely the UK gigs were not cancelled due to poor ticket sales? I went up to the Indian summer festival in Glasgow this summer and Wilco did a splendid headline set, even though they only had 60 minutes, so I was really looking forward to a full set tonight. At Indian summer festival I did see Jeff and Pat watching Andrew Bird from the side of the stage so maybe the thought of them getting together will cheer me up. DickDarlington
I also saw them watching Andrew Bird, which was cool. Incidently with just over a week to go I have still yet to see a poster for the Dublin gigs or promotion of any kind about here, which is odd considering it isn't sold out. Bubs101
The 15th is sold out
DickDarlington
True, but it went back onsale twice already, But even then, 14th isnt sold out and in Dublin they advertise every large and tiny gig with posters and ads in newspapers, even the sold out gigs, so just a bit odd

I know it's not their fault that they're not flavour of the month an' all, but it's almost as if someone's going out of their way to keep them a secret (which I guess isn't true!). Even the ticket agencies, who you'd think it would be in their interest to sell tickets, don't include them half the time on their free mail outs. I even subscribed to the Wilco newsletter, but I never get one when new shows are announced...?!?!
Bubs101
I was always under the impression that these were low key gigs. P.S. Dick, do you know if anyone is taping these gigs? Was gonna ask on boards later

Was gonna ask on boards later I have no idea, I dont know any tapers in Ireland, and I dont know how to do it myself even though i'l be there both nights. The Tweedy solo gig was taped so if that was, I hope this will be too, especially since it's the last 2 nights of the tour this year.
MKHstudios
I have a good feeling both shows will be recorded.

froggie
the solo tweedy one doesnt exist in its entirety, i dont think. there was an incomplete mp3 posted here a while back. the quality wasnt too good either
Bubs101
Was my first taste of Wilco live. MKH, having looked at bt.etree and seen your username a couple of times I presume that there's no need to bring any taping material and you'll be sharing with newbs brah ?
