A big surprise at this show in addition to the inclusion of Cowgirl In The Sand: The instrumental Sultan! From Neil's pre-Buffalo Springfield band The Squires's one and only 7" single. First live performance since at least 1965. Complete with Eric Johnson (aka the devil in Greendale) dressed up as a sultan banging on a big gong!

Complete with Eric Johnson (aka the devil in Greendale) dressed up as a sultan banging on a big gong! We saw him last night and it was incredible. This song,"Sultan", was the only one I didn't know, thanks for the info. It was really cool with the gong and everything. Having no idea what it was, I leaned over to my wife and said, "Holy shit, there's a genie on stage." I thought the idea of announcing the songs with paintings was cool, but it sort of fell apart in the middle of the show.

I have now officially gone insane with jealousy. I've only heard the Sultan/Aurora single once (on CBC radio).
Willkoman
Thanks so much for the post with the pictures. It looks like a pretty cool setup and what a great setlist. I had seventh row off to stage left but I switched to row fourteen much closer to center stage. December 7 seems worlds away. I can't f*****g wait!

dannygutters
does neil usually annouce that you can't shout out request and only buy one beer at a time? That seemed odd to me that they would announce it like that.
