Tweedling
I'm looking for insight from some of you who have seen them live. I have seen them once at a festival and they were "decked-out" with horns and all. I'm getting psyched and so please share some of your experiences. (good and bad)
Stefanie
i've seen them more times than i can recall and they've all been pretty fabulous. i saw them right after ga ga ga ga ga came out and they didn't have a horn section. it sounded weird to hear some of those songs without horns! then, i saw them again a couple of months later and they had the horns. it was freakin' awesome! their shows are always pretty high energy. and they play a fair amount from older albums too which is a big bonus for me. in the last year or so the crowds have gotten kind of "fratty" but it's not like an OAR show or anything it's mostly been my experience that britt doesn't do a lot of talking in between songs though. i wish he would but maybe he's not very funny or something so it's probably for the best. haha! you're going to have a blast. i've never had a bad time at a spoon show! cryptique
I saw them on the Kill the Moonlight tour. The show kicked ass and took names. Their lineup is a bit different these days, though, so I can't attest to their current asskickingness.
DAngerer09
I just saw a show of theirs a few months back in Columbus (for only 5 bucks!). They played most of Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga and they played stuff from most all their other records. A good mix of songs. Britt Daniel is a great performer and showman. You're in for a good rock show. damo
saw them at gold coast big day out this year and they were average then the next night i saw them in this little concert in bangalow with joanna newsom and andrew bird and they were fucking amazing then
augurus
This is what they sound like live.
Silent Assassin
I've seen them three times, have yet to disappoint. They are playing in Nashville the same night as the New Pornographers, so unfortunately I won't get to see them a fourth time. However, Spoon is playing a Vandy sponsored festival and I can just imagine a bunch of drunken undergrads that would probably not care about them anyway would ruin the experience anyway. Aeglos
saw them open for Arcade Fire in Sydney a few months ago and they were on top form i was pretty disappointed they didn't do their own show for a fuller set
alison the wilca
i only saw them once but the show was a lot of fun... i enjoyed it.

Welsh Rich
I saw them a couple of years ago at the ATP Festival in the UK and they were great. I couldn't get over how great the sound was and how, for a band who've always loved a bit of studio trickery, it translated really well live.
Chendizzle
I saw them on the Gimme Fiction tour. They were ok, pretty lackluster though and I left feeling pretty disappointed since I love Spoon so much. The glowing reviews make me think I caught them on an off-night. Jim Eno was a nice dude to talk to though.
tangara
If you've never seen them before, I recommend seeing them. I saw them three or four times last year and the performances were somewhat uneven: amazing at Schubas; solid at Lollapalooza; deadly dull at Austin City Limits. Still, they're a great band with a great back catalog to draw from, and definitely worth checking out live.

Very true. I questioned the wisdom of their matching, all-black outfits during that set! And I'll agree most any band is better at their own gig than at a festival. benjamin
Spoon is one of my fave live bands. A must see.
