Central Scrutinizer
Great info on places to hang. Does anyone have any information on a hotel that is within walking distance from theatre. I am coming up from South Florida and would like to find a place to stay for 1 night that is close to place. Thanks in adnvace. Suites Depends on how much you want to spend. There's a Hyatt-Regency on Bay Street -- about 2.5 blocks from the Theatre. There's also the Jacksonville Omni, with is a little more than a half-mile west. Both fairly pricey. There are several hotels on the South Bank, which would be a decidedly longer walk.

I'm gonna cab it. I wanted to be in walking distance but the hotel is about $100 cheaper. Usually I like to go all out but hard times.
lamradio
I was actually thinking about just saying fuck it and going to this show. There is still a buy link on Wilcoworld, but no tickets are showing up when I search ticketmaster. Oh well... Maybe if two tickets show up on VC, I'll go.

In either case, cost of cabfare may wipe out a good portion of your hotel savings. In most cases you're 5-7 miles outside of downtown. Cabs can soak you $60+ from the airport. Bay St.) is close and would be an interesting experience. Think accommodations (and clientel) similar to Elwood Blues' accommodations.

suites
Thanks for the great info. I will be getting there mighty early, and will definitely find a place from this list.Anyone ever try to get in to a soundcheck? What time would soundcheck even be, if the show is at 8? I would love to do this, but have never had the time ... this time, though, I will be early. Yo...I would love to meet you, you have been on this board for at least as long as me. I think (based on picture I saw on wilcoworld) that soundcheck might be around 4:00. I am driving from "way down south" and plan to be up there around 2ish.

rhinomagic
My wife and I are driving over from Tallahassee after lunch on Wednesday. We're thinking of going to the London Bridge Eatery & Pub. Anybody else going to be hanging downtown before the show? .
lamradio
They finally put the show as sold out on the wilco site. I'm still throwing around the idea of driving down for this show.. I'm a little surprised there hasn't been more posts for extras tickets.

Opuntia
I also vote for a meetup at London Bridge. I was at a conference in Jax a few months ago and London Bridge was definitely the highlight for several of us. Here's a link to a google map I created for both London Bridge and the Florida Theater Also, Jax has something called Artwalk going on that day: http://www.downtownjacksonville.org/pdf/August%20flyer.pdf

It's more of a insider social clutch of a few factions of the local art community. London Bridge is in the shadow of the former public library which is a 60s architectural marvel of day glo tile. mfwahl
Where did you get this list?I was wondering that myself when I saw other people talking about what was in first for the Charleston or Cary Show. When you vote now it tells you. That was as of 2:45 or whenever I posted that. I would love to hear Pieholden. I was hoping the "why do you want to hear this song" portion was more important than quantitiy of votes.
