Saw this a long time ago, still think about the great line in the opening scene at the car dealership, after the dealer asks Dreyfuss how much he wants to pay.

"How much do I want to pay for this car? I want to pay nothing."

I have never seen that... I need to. I really want to see that new John C. Reilly/Will Ferrell movie. Despite it looking rather stupid, I find those guys hilarious.

That's a very shrewd movie, scriptwise. Been a long time since I saw it. "Used Cars" was released about the same time as that, and I had a friend who thought it was the best movie ever made. I was most interested in whatever he was smoking when he thought that.

Monty Python's Life of Brian

Oh, wait! It's on youtube, guess I'll go and do that now.

One of greatest lines ever:

Brian: "Don't you understand you're all different."

Crowd: "Yes, we're all different."

Small voice in back: "I'm not."

news reports on favre's cell phone investigation.

News reports on Favre being dragged from his home in the middle of the night and pummeled by disgruntled fans.

Brian: Who cured you?

Ex-leper: Jesus did, sir. I was hopping along, minding my own business. All of a sudden, up he comes. Cures me. One minute I'm a leper with a trade, next minute my livelihood's gone. Not so much as a by your leave. 'You're cured mate.' Bloody do-gooder.

I almost watched that over the weekend. What the heck happened to Barry Levinson?

I went to see [Everlasting Piece]

Ouch.

The last Levinson film I saw in the theater was Bandits--although I should have thrown in the towel after Jimmy Hollywood. (Liberty Heights was decent, I guess.) There was a time when Levinson represented quality screenwriting in Hollywood, and his 1982-1991 career was a pretty good run. Diner and Avalon are two of my favorite movies.

For me he peaked with his cameo role in "High Anxiety."
